Oh, man! I missed that whole incident as I was trying to find the Finland/Swiss game. That was just embarrassing! Fitting way to end 2016 though. Still not nearly as bad as that Mariah Carey debacle from last night.

It was a technical glitch. Kudos to that no one overreacted to a a broken clamp or whatever it was.

Turned on the NYE show just in time to see an inebriated Mariah self-immolate live on national TV. Sad really.

I remember seeing them holding it but kind of wondering why it wasn't going up. But really didn't think much of it at the time

Absolutely. Especially when you compare them with last year's team that mostly just lumbered around the ice. All these kids can either skate, or if you're a monster like Greenway, I guess you don't need to skate that fast.

I really think Motzko lets them play their game. It's not constrained.

I'm surprise nobody is mentionning White's game today. He had an exceptionnel game i thought, Especially in the D zone. Saved a goal that change the whole game. Scored the first goal on a very good play by Greenway, and letal shot.

White is this team most complete forward, IMO. Not the best offensively, but his overall 2-way game is magic.

I'm bias, i know XD. I'm very high on White.

It's a testament to how deep this team is. You could talk about Greenway, Caleb Jones, or three other players before you get to White. But he was also amazing today, on both ends of the ice. He's a stud.

I was thinking this during the game.....we've made Thompson a non-factor.

I get the balance reason for changing it initially. But the team needs Keller and White to be factors. Thompson will help that. He reads the play and finds the holes better than Anderson. Anderson is a good support player but he doesn't add much to Keller and White when the going gets tougher.

If they play like they did against Switzerland, the Russians are going to run them out of the arena. They keep playing down to their opponent's level - did the same thing against Latvia and Slovakia.

This is one of the most deepest and most inconsistent teams I can remember watching. They've really only played 2 good games in this tournament - vs Russia and Canada. Let's hope they continue the trend of playing well against good competition.

Can someone please explain to me why Bellows is playing as much as he is? Maybe someone else can explain to me why he got picked for the team in the first place?

There hasn't been a USA game in this tournament where he wasn't the worst forward on the ice and yet he keeps getting top 6 minutes and PP time.

He's awful.

I've been wondering the same thing.

Just watched the game. What a great win from team USA. They looked great. Greenway was amazing. What a great win!

The difference between the Canada thread and the USA one is incredible. USA squeeks out a win against Switzerland carried by great goaltending from Parsons. Canada has a huge come back win against the Czechs after going down on a bad bounce and its all doom and gloom.

I prefer your guys attitudes!

USA should either reunite Thompson with Keller and White, or swap Harper with Bellows.

Bellows has been very bad, Erik Foley has been pretty bad too IMO.

She got paid 3 million to do that mess. I would purposely lip sync the wrong lyrics to another artists track if I was getting 3 million and do it allll with a giant grin.

I agree. I had a friend who once described a place as being "so underrated that its become overrated".

I think Foley was such a pleasant surprise this summer that we all became enamored with him and now people think he's doing more than he actually is. He takes really bad angles to the puck sometimes and ends up significantly out of the play way too frequently. It seems like he's always chasing. He's the 13th forward in my opinion.

I really wish that Harper would get some more ice time. I took him and Fox in a pool and it seems like the USA coaches are not nearly as high on those two as I am. Next year, I guess.

I'm with you on Fox. I like him a lot. Fox was really good late in the game yesterday. In the beginning of the game he (like most of the US players) was pretty careless with passes but, by the end, he was tight.

is there a way to see the players' minutes? interested to see who's logged the most minutes against canada and switzerland

He's been really solid.
Great Flames pick.
