Söderberg is a fine player who's having a bad season on a terrible team. He's better than every center we have in Europe, he can play anywhere in the lineup and on the wing as well.

He is washed up and taking a young players spot. VM does not have great status anyway so why not play young exciting players? Even båg did that.

You want to build for the future? What does this mean exactly? NHL'ers won't go to the Olympics in 2018 and who knows if they'll go in 2022.

I wouldn't have invited Soderberg personally, but he's clearly ahead of A. Nylander at this point in time.

Just because you don't take the World Championship seriously doesn't mean that management shouldn't. How are you going to attract the best players, if you're not interested in putting the best team available on the ice? Also, with no NHL'ers going to the Olympics, the value of the WC gold medal increases.

Showcase for who? If Alex would have dominated in ahl then I would probably agree, but he didnt so.

That would be a nice set of centers, with the assumption that Backstrom, Zibanejad and Berglund advances to the next round. Or have Soderberg on the wing, with Karlsson as the 3rd line center and Kruger as the 4th.

Söderberg is a gamble he might still get himself going once he gets a new setting and a chance to actually win something. Alex Nylander has never even played at this level before and has also just finished a really dissappointing season in the Ahl nonetheless and he is nineteen! He isn't even a gamble.
