Great additions although I have no idea why you would lock a spot up on a fringe player like Nordström this early that's just stupid IMO

Heaviest team?

Hedman 101 kg
Edler 97
Ahnelöv 100
Staffan Kronwall 100
Hersley 96
Fantenberg 92

We're not filling the team with 25 NHLers. And it's a safe bet he's good enough for the 15-25 spots on the team. Probably one of the main penaltykillers.

The thing is players of that calibre are normally on this type of team on a tryout-basis because there are many players in the SHL who could do the thing he is going to be asked to do but they would not have been promised a spot beforehand, this feels like specialtreatment because of where he plays not because of how good he actually is

Woah, big add in Hedman, that's the equivalent of Canada getting Doughty. Automatically solidifies the D.

Strålman not being announced at the same time as Hedman has to be a hint that he isn't going, doesn't it?

As I mentioned earlier, Strålman said in his exit interview he was considering going to Worlds, but had to do a medical check first. Found this tweet a bit later.

So they might have found something that needs healing up this off season.

Could also mean they are still waiting on results I suppose.

Stralman has also played more hockey than any other player in the world in the past four? seasons outside of maybe one or two guys. ECF with Rangers, SCF with Rangers, SCF with Tampa, ECF with Tampa, WCH at the beginning of this season.

He may just want a rest (and I'll be damned if he hasn't earned it).

That's a real heavy workload! Let's not forget the health issues. And now a possible World champ run. Plus that he was +3 in WC 10 years ago. As 20 year old. The guy's a dinosaur!

I was more curious as to why Klingberg wasn't added yet.

Maybe waiting to see what happens in the Ottawa-Montreal series! :D

Joke aside:

Hedman - Hersley
Edler - Klingberg
Ahnelöv - Fantenberg

He's still very effective for a dinosaur. 30 is not quite over the hill yet for a dman.

Here's another fun stat. Two of the four players in the NHL with the most playoff games are Swedes.

Eddie Läck added to roster.

OEL, Klingberg, Landeskog, Lehner, Strålman, Söderberg invited - waiting for answers.

And why having to INVITE players? Are they not answering the phone??

Because they need to get permission from their NHL club, which usually entails passing a medical exam. I guess with OEL it is a question if he can find the motivation after dealing with the death of his mother

Because they invited every single active Swedish NHL Forward eligable atm! (I.E. not in play-offs)

Zetterberg, D. Sedin, H. Sedin, Eriksson, Nyquist have declined.
Janmark, Nemeth and Josefson are injured/did not respond.

With:

Landeskog, Nordström, Rask, Lindholm & Söderberg: have accepted/awaiting club clearance.

Remaining NHL Swedish forwards whose teams not in NHL play-offs & not invited:

Kempe and Wallmark: are back down for AHL play-offs.
Rödin: is recovering from surgery.
Larsson: is recovering from surgery.

Nemeth is a defensive defenseman ;)
