Strålman is quite defensive if you compare using a forward over him. I just threw in Söderberg because he is a big body to put in front of the net, but I much prefer Lundqvist because he also brings that great faceoff skill. It is a waste that Landeskog is parked in front of the net like a Holmström because we ice an extra defenseman. OEL and Klingberg have enough offensive poise to work in tandem over an extra forward, but it pushes Nylander/Bäckström down into the corner instead of having them on the half-wall.

The best PP in NHL have probabaly been washington for many years now, and they do not even have a player in that role, the closet thing is probabaly Johansson. Maybe time to move away from the old thinking that you shall have a strong big guy infront of the net.

I know they called Söderberg back from the NHL and everything but there's got to be a limit, even for grönborg

It requires you to have that kind of player like Bäckström on the ice also, which is why there is no big screener in the Bäckström line, but rather a Lindberg who can play Oshie's role, and some forward filling in for Johansson's role.

Now, I would argue that Pittsburgh has an equally potent powerplay as Washington over the last two years, with Hörnqvist utilizing the screening role quite effectively. However, the Pens have A LOT of potent shooters (Malkin, Crosby and Kessel) that forces the opponents to stay honest in their coverage.

Washington's utilizes Ovechkin's shot as its primary weapon (he usually plays the full 2 mins on the powerplay), and then sets up the Bäckström - Johansson - Oshie quick tap-in play when opponents overcommit coverage towards Ovi.

TL;DR: Teams still uses a screener to great success

I'm not dissapointed by the results since we're winning the games we're supposed to, but how does Grönborg, Popovic and Garpenlöv manage to make this team seem so toothless with the players available. Meanwhile Nylander really showing how elite he truly is.

Sad that we wont see nhl sweden in olympics next year

Nylander backstrom zibanejad
Forsberg rakell arvidsson
Landeskog lindholm Silfverberg
Zetterberg Wennberg rask

Really nice team.

Oh stop buying in to Aftonbladet and Expressens so called "journalists". Omark was pretty much invisible in the games where he played and hes not suited for bottom 6-minutes. Hes to slow, to weak on the puck and less skilled than others.
Meanwhile söderberg has been amazing? He has barely touched the puck two games in a row. He doesnt look interested.

It is frustrating to watch Nylander parked in front of the net on the PP. He's legitimately one of the best players in the world on the man advantage, he needs to be handling the puck. Toronto runs a system where both Matthews and Nylander co-QB the unit on either side, that would be lethal with Backstrom here. Or if you really need 2D on all the time, split them up so each can run a unit. At least then Willy would get to touch the puck once they're set up.

Those defensemen. :biglaugh: I don't even think a 6 year old could pick worse.

But seriously if our defense continues on this path in the QF:s we're out so maybe it wouldn't be the worst idea ;) (well not picking Karlsson is ofcourse)

Is there any system for which teams meet each other in the semifinals? I am guessing the winners of each group doesn't meet each other.

We (#3) get Switzerland (#4), that is ok. Canada is the strong team in the other group, getting the winner of Germany/Latvia.
