WC: 2017 Team Sweden

Landeskog goes below the goal line to create space and set up Nylander in the slot. Obviously he moves in as net front when the puck is elsewhere. Klingberg aswell on this unit as Bäckström loves to set up right-handers. OEL has a free role. This is Caps inspired.

I like the idea of putting OEL in a free role seriously doubt Garpen will change anything though
 
Nylander backstrom don't need to be together as they can each carry a line. They just both need someone that can actually score.

I'd break up the top line and spread it out a bit.

Those are just the standard answers after accepting the invite. Bäckström has always played well for Tre Kronor though and will be the most important player on this team.

Listening to his exit interview he sounded more pissed than dissappointed which is usually a good thing for an athlete
 
The reason backstrom wanted to come was probably nylander. Right after caps knocked out toronto nick praised nylander said he will be awesome for sweden.

Nick also lived with michael nylander and played street hockey with William.
 
It's fun and a bit unexpected with such a good Swedish team. Everything except a gold will probably be viewed as a failure now, some players will feel the pressure from the Swedish press and people.

Many of the Swedish players have something to prove now.

In Sweden you will not really be regarded as a true star before winning gold in Olympics or WC for Sweden and scoring some goals. It doesn't matter much being a star in the NHL.

Nylander? I'd say guys like Lundqvist, Hedman, OEL and the other World Cup players were a much bigger factor in his decision.

We have the opportunity to play three forward lines. Then Bäckström - Nylander and the Landeskogs (Rask and Elias) will be on the ice more often. Backed by NHL:ers on defense.
 
I'm not worried about the goal scoring now. Sure, no Swedish forwards on the roster are known goal scorers, but a bunch of them know how to score in the right situation. And when a bunch of them get good scoring chances, they should be able to score a couple of goals every game, especially since they have such good offensive support from the blueline.

Add to that a goalie that can pretty much single handedly win a game if he's on and he's usually one when it matters.

Odds are looking really good for Sweden. This is a really strong team, even though the forwards are a bit weak compared to other big nations, they still have alot of skill and are solid two-way forwards.

That blueline and goaltending is just... really, really, really good. It's a team with star goaltending, a star defense and forwards that still worry the opposition.

I predict a much more firm and well executed D now with an elite goal-tender instead of a back-up goalie. just keep the shots limited to come from the perimeter and physically punish any incursions against the net. This blue-line can do that if they trust the guy at the net.
