Yet Landeskog does nothing but take stupid penalties in the NHL.

I think there is something toxic in CO, causing their best players to underperform. Landeskog, Duchene, and Mackinnon should be much better.

Even Soderberg looked quite good in the games. It's obviously not on the individual players. At least not all of them.

Berglund becomes Mats Sundin when he puts on the Sweden sweather. I hope he shows up.

I lol'd. But it's somewhat true.

I mean, he 110% slots into the top12 on this team right now. But would be nice to wait the other series first, if they can. If they invite him now they might not be able to invite one of Rakell or Silfverberg later..

I'd invite GANDHI!

Problem is they can't really wait. Hold on to the invite for too long and the player goes on vacation.

isn't Lack better than Fasth? Fasth's numbers aren't really impressive since the best ones are on CSKA team

Läck can be good (in Vancouver), but in general I don't think so. Sweden need a NHL-contract for Lehner yesterday or NYR getting beaten.

Lack's major issue here in Carolina was that he and the team's goaltending coach, David Marcoux, just didn't see eye-to-eye. Marcoux wanted Lack to fundamentally change his style with regards to how deep/shallow he played, when he started to challenge shooters, how much skating they wanted him to do, etc. If we choose to keep Lack I hope whomever our next goalie coach is (Marcoux's been let go) sits down with Eddie and reviews what made him successful in Vancouver. He had flashes of that - and at times looked quite good - but his first year here he struggled to adapt to the system he was being asked to play and this season he struggled with injuries.

We need to work on our redirects. Like really. How many plays to an open player in the slot did we have that didn't turn out being a SOG. But all in all we lost because we weren't playing with intensity.

Grönborg have coached u18 u20 and the NT, even though he had the best crop of players coming out of sweden since forsberg and naslund. He have never won gold. In about 8 years he have never won anything. Choking his way to have the most honorable job in swedish hockey.

Have swedish coaches stopped at toppa laget? Why isnt he playing with lindholm + nylander at the end of the game? He just rolls his lines no matter what.

Realistically we will face the Czechs in the quarter final. Will be hard but not impossible.

There is still a great chance to finish 2nd in the group. If Russia beats USA in regulation it's entirely up to us.

I don't really care if we play Czechia or Finland though. Same same, we will have the puck a lot and they will try to counter-attack us. Could end up with another opponent too, Switzerland maybe.

lets not forget about peter popovic. he have been assi-coach for 8 years now. our defence are always playing bad...no idea how popovic have stick around for so long time.

Yep, a group of clowns, including MÃ¥rts. "it is about saving the best game for last" and then always do the straight opposite, hence the 40 straight group stage wins in WJC. The amount of talent we got on our hands should make us at least the favorite behind Canada. And this year, one could make the argument that we have the best team in the tournament.

But maybe this is the time we actually save the best game for last.... :sarcasm:

Thanks for the input, I didn't know about Marcoux. It sounds as a risky (to put it mildly) to 1) coach at distance 2) tell a decent goalie to change his style.

The organization hired him because he had tremendous success working with Kiprusoff in Calgary but IMO he hit lightning in a bottle there. Marcoux did work closely with Lack, maybe too closely. I got to attend a practice the team had for season ticket holders early last season (not too long before Lack went down with his first concussion) and Marcoux seemed to work almost exclusively with Lack and spent very little time with Ward. If anything it looked as if Marcoux was trying to put his fingerprint on Eddie's work and in doing so was just causing him to overthink his approach. He did the same thing to Anton Khudobin two years ago.

Dammit Landeskog, just stop it! How many times has he been suspended now? I could buy the not used to IIHF rules except he keeps getting penalties in NHL as well. Love that he stands up for his team mates (see Kink) but if you're going to be dirty, either keep it on the right side of the line or make sure the ref doesn't see it.
