WC: 2017 Team Russia

Very sad that Radulov and Zaistev cant go, Emelin on first pair doesnt look ok, he would be ok on second.
If washington goes out i hope for Orlov and Kuznestov, please no OV...Tarasenko also not, there are enough snipers on team and he will just disrupt any chemistry created. Malkin also great addition if he isnt hurt.

He looked pretty healthy 2 days ago when he was playing against Washington. Under what circumstances does the club team have the right to forbid the player from participating in the WC? Theoretically, they could end NHL participation with a blanket statement that it is just too risky! Or, they could play favorites and allow Canadians and Americans to go, but not others.

Emelin is not supposed to be on the first pairing... IF he is invited at all.

After EHT and Russia-2 games will be played game between Russia and Russia-2, after which roster for the World Championship will be named.
 
2 Rosters anounced. 1 for the Euro Hockey Tour games and 1 for the Alrosa Cup in St.Petersburg. They basically contain everz player available now except Panarin, who will join the team later.

Possible additions after the 2nd round in the NHL are Tarasenko and Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Orlov vs. Malkin.

The EHT roster is the obvious core. Kaprizov and Shesterkin are obvious candidates to make the team from the other roster probabalz on the other one due to Kaprizov recent recovery from injury and Shestyorkin given some game action as an obvious no.1 on the 2nd roster.

So here is a very close prediction for the WC roster for now:


Mozyakin/Panarin(Ovechkin) - Namestnikov(Kuznetsov/Malkin) - Kucherov

Gusev - Shipachyov - Dadonov

Golyshev - Tkachyov - Kaprizov(Tarasenko)

Plotnikov - Svetlakov - Telegin/Nichushkin


Provorov - Belov(Orlov)

Bereglazov - Antipin

Mironov - Gavrikov

Kiselevich

Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Shestyorkin

Point totals would tell a different tale, Markov has more points in 20 less games played. He's beeen great this season, Markov is slow but hes plays a very smart game and has tons of exprience. Provorov will be better no doubt then Markov eventually, maybe as soon as next season. But as it stands currently Markov is still the better dman.

It's Provorov by a country mile. You ever heard of a role? Markov is by now a OD in a sheltered role behind Weber. He is slow and sloppy defensively, while Provorov can carry a team's defence. He is very mobile, is great at decision making AND can contribute offensively(if he would be used in that role). Markov was maybe a tad better in his prime, but eight now Provorov is head and shoulders above him.

What the **** are you talking about ? Do you even watch the Montreal Canadiens play or you just spill BS ang go by his stats and his age ?

Markov never was and was not in a sheltered role at all. He faced the top lines all year long, including the playoffs.

He finished with 6 points less than Weber, while the latter played 16 more games.

Markov is still the "General" of the Habs D, playing on the 1st line WITH Weber and finished top 15 for Points/Game played.

Saying Provorov is "head and shoulders above him" is laughable while even Weber, a top 10 D in the whole league, isn't "head and shoulders above Markov".

The only thing differenciating Markov vs when he was in his prime is his mobility, but even that isn't that noticeable because of how high his hockey IQ actually is.

Make no mistake, Team Russia should and will invite him.

Him actually accepting the invitation is another question, having played so many games already + the World Cup (in which Provorov wasn't playing BTW).

Markov was only a 'tad better in his prime than Provorov'? [MOD]

Markov is one of the better d-men our country has ever produced. He's the 2nd highest scoring defenseman in the history of the Montreal Canadiens. I doubt he gets there, but he's pushing HHOF level.

Provorov is an immense young talent, but he still has a loooooooong way to go to reach Markov's peak level.

If Provorov becomes as good as prime Markov was, he will be hell of a player.

I still hope, Gusev will play with Kucherov and Panarin with Shipachev and Dadonov.

Provorov doesn't belong in the same conversation as Andrei Markov.

Andrei Markov is one of the greatest defensemen of this past generation let alone as a Russian dman.

He's effectively the Russian Lidstrom.

Slow and choppy, yet he still thinks the game in a way Provorov will never think it.

Had to join this conversation because of the absolute hilarity of this discussion. You better hope he even comes close to a peak Andrei Markov, because very few defensemen in the past 15 years have.

You are not on the MTL board here so I can tell you the whole truth about the Habs, but you won't like it.

Weber is a top 10 D-man? You wish. I considered him the best, but that was a while ago. We are not talking about a while ago.(Yes, Subban isn't either, so what?)

I watsched too many Habs games and know too much about the fan base. It is so dellusional and volatile. Habs fans have a hard time evaluating their team. It's a crazy hatelove.

Markov faced top lines in the playoffs? Where did it get the Habs?

Again, he is on a major decline and has no business on the russian NT anymore.

No, he will get an invite. No, he won't. Nor should he. Now that this is ut of the way, russiand D is not good and Provorov will be the only seriously talented D-man on it the way it looks for now. Markov wouldn't help it with all his IQ on the bigger rink with more ice to cover. And having a veteran crap the bed(like he did in the World Cup) wouldn't help the team's morale either.

Dadonov has a minor injury, so at least tomorrow Gusev will play with Kucherov.
