Why wait Parayko?)

Сanada can add Hamilton,Burns or Spurgeon,Giordano)

I don't know what is going on with Spurgeon and Hockey Canada, it seems they never ask him to play. Maybe he has told them straight out he never wants to play in this thing and would rather be with his family offseason.

The guy is a damn good defenseman and would seem a logical candidate for this tournament on multiple years but I have never even heard once that he was being considered for the team in any year yet.

There's nothing going on with Hockey Canada and Spurgeon. I know for a fact people at Hockey Canada are quite high on Spurgeon and wanted him in the past at this tournament, but due to the usual reasons, playoffs or injuries, he hasn't had the chance to play. I'm not sure how highly he views this tournament.

Different NHL GM year to year selecting teams, 1 GM may not see Spurgeon in the same light as others and if there are Hockey Canada people telling Hextall Spurgeon Spurgeon, that particular NHL GM may have other ideas.

but you're right. He's damn good. and I wish he were on this team already.

Glad you cleared that up and Hockey Canada has no strange "beef" with him or something. I have just never heard his name mentioned once for inclusion in this thing except by fans and I have always found that very strange.

It seems odd he has never once played in this thing , find it difficult to believe every single year there is either an injury or GM team vision thing that has kept him from not being on this team even once.

I have to go with your last possibility mentioned, how highly he views this tournament.

I would say not very much.

With the news out of Pred's dressing room, Fiala done for the series...could possibly turn that series around in favor of the Blues. in which case P.K. and Ellis would nice additions in Paris.

Has Vlasic confirmed? I haven't heard anything yet.

All I have heard is some guy who tries to make his living talking about hockey said he is going and he made it sound rock solid, which counts for nothing in my eyes.

These so called hockey insiders have been a joke concerning additions to teams this year.

They would be fine indeed. I would really like to get a look at that Parayko on the big ice sheet though.

Last year both Spurgeon and Scandella were asked and declined. Russo reported it.

Marner is a great add. He's going to be one of the best forwards there. The Leafs wouldn't let him go if he had some health problems.

He's going to be a huge NHL star very soon, maybe right next year. He's just incredible. I hope more people will realize how similar he is to Patrick Kane now watching him at the Worlds for Canada.

Also, Marc-Edouard Vlasic was officially added to the team. He is listed on the official roster on HockeyCanada website.

I don't think that Toronto could stop him due to health as long as Hockey Canada followed the correct protocol, though presumably Marner wouldn't bother going if he was significantly hurt or sick. I also doubt that a playmaking winger will be hugely successful for Canada, but it's good if he is.

Confirmation, great!!

Thanks.
He is a very important add imo. The best defensive defenseman in the world, winner of the last World Cup and Olympics. He adds some experience, and especially he can play top defensive minutes, kill penalties, etc. That was kinda missing here. He was doing great against McDavid in the playoffs. It would be great to get Burns now when Vlasic's going.

Still, even with Vlasic, two more defensemen and two more forwards and one goalie to add.

2 of them would be great additions for any WHC Team Canada, more so Spurgeon than Scandella...but it's really disappointing for Spurgeon to decline when available, as he has a shot at playing on a real A-Team Canada at some point. maybe a bit of a longshot as a RHD-man, but he's right up imo. I would have put him on the World Cup team over Muzzin, but Babcock is a righty-lefty junkie.

Pickles automatically makes this team a lot better. Not an amazing puck mover, but we've got enough of those. If we can get one more #1 pairing guy, and then not put him with Pickles, we've got two amazing d-pairings.

I think most of them fly out on Sunday to Geneva. 1st skate on Monday. pre-tournament game on Tuesday.

so, I hope we get our #1 goalie and a partner for Pickles before that. preferably today. but that's just because I'm the impatient sort.

Can't believe they didn't invite Crawford.

Still real concerned about the goalie situation.
