I think canada add more players

1g 3d and 2f (after 2round)

That's not a good add, they must be getting turned down by a lot of players.

This team is far too young.

The offense is just fine, they don't even need to add another star forward... Marner is great addition. Marchand would be fantastic though. They need Vlasic + preferably another top pairing defenseman (Giordano or someone).

And they need Crawford, starting goalie...

When those additions are done, this team will be unstoppable once again. Congrats.

But if Hextall and co. are waiting for the 2nd round... I don't think it is needed, if Vlasic and Crawford are interested, just take them and everything is solved. Burns would be fantastic addition, especially for PP.

I HIGHLY doubt that Marner would go, if he would not be 100 %.

Last year team more young.

If Canada add Burns,Vlasic,Gio and Marchand and Crowford

will be very solid team)

Last year the tournament overall wasn't as strong though. Sweden's defense is basically one player away from being the top level defense even in the Olympics.

Marner WILL be a good player, but now there are reports of Mono, and we've got way too many rookies and guys that barely even played a full season.

+ USA team very strong this year

O'Reilly - G - Marner
Would be Canada's best two-way line, it wouldn't be fair lol. They're all two-way players and Marner was 9th(would have been 7th) in takeaways this year,
O'Reilly was 27th(would have been closer to top 10).

What are the fools at Hockey Canada waiting for?

Reilly.

Sounds like that supposed hockey scribe/insider got this wrong also.

Or can the guy who is reporting that reilly is now not going be believed?

Lot of that going on this year, quite infuriating.

Drop the hearsay "insiders".......................we only want facts

I really think that this team could struggle looking at that lineup. Lots of question marks on there. No goaltending yet, not sure why you wouldn't bring Crawford, a Stanley Cup Winning goalie. He's perfectly good for a tournament like this.

I think there are BIG question marks around all the Avalanche guys, certainly MacKinnon has done nothing in his career to impress yet, Duchene is a pretty good complimentary player, but won't lead you, and Barrie I heard had a disastrous year.

The Philly guys should be okay, but Giroux hasn't shown game breaking ability in a while and is apparently nursing a bad hip, Koneckny is very young, I don't like taking guys that young, and I'm not sure how good Simmonds will be on the big ice.

Our defense is mobile at least, but not a ton of experience there yet, and if we haven't heard from Vlassic or Gio yet you gotta wonder, especially if Hextall is talking 2nd round additions.

Skinner CAN be good, but I have seen him take some stupid penalties and be pretty ineffective in past tournaments, granted he should be older and more mature.

I don't know, I think coaching is going to make or break us this year, because the roster seems a bit spotty so far.

Coaching will be big. I wasn't thrilled with the team last year (unproven Talbot and a patchwork defence) but Peters implemented a very effective system. In terms of talent this team just looks mediocre. Better than the horrible Olympic year teams, not as strong as 2015 or 2013 editions.

A lot of hockey outsiders talking big on twitter. This was never a big issue before, will have to remember it for next year. To be fair though, Rielly is now quoted as saying that he thought about it for a few days and decided not to go. The initial report was that he was interested at the time, so it's a little bit defensible. The Toronto sun published that Marner is going and Rielly is not, so that seems more credible. Marner is a good young player but he looked a bit gassed in the playoffs to me, and playmaking wingers aren't usually good fits for Canada. Not getting Rielly is potentially quite a loss if he is replaced with mediocrity.

Rielly has been dealing with the after effects of a high ankle sprain. Docs prob said to just let it heal properly.

Babs said Marner has/had Mono during the playoffs. Lots of us thought something was up as he wasn't as "energetic" during the playoffs. I guess he's feeling better or he just really wants to play hockey.

You think the talent on this team is mediocre in terms of talent?

O'Reilly,Scheif,mack,giroux,simmonds,skinner,duchene,Marner.

Those are all pretty talented guys and real good hockey players, offensively it matches up to anything anyone else has here. Even the round out guys like Konecny, killorn, point, and Couts are pretty good players.

Up front it looks fine to me. Now defensively I agree with you, nothing special there but allright, mediocre would probably be a good way to describe it, especially if you compare it to Swedens guys on the backend.

Goaltending is an issue for sure, don't know what the hell is going on with that.

Up front though...........it's talented.

The more i think about it though, when you combine the what looks like less then good goaltending situation with the I would say average defense, you might be right, maybe the talent overall of the team is mediocre.

Just looking at this decade, this team is clearly more talented than the 2014 team, and clearly less talented than the 2015, 2013 and 2012 teams. We'll see what gets added to complete the roster. With the right tactics the team will certainly be competitive.

Don't know much about Cooper as a coach, wonder what type of team style he will try to employ?

Looks like Morgan Rielly isn't going cause of his ankle injury may of not of cleared medicals may be better for him to rest his ankle . He can go to worlds in may 2018 .

We really need a starting goalie Urgently.

If it looks as though the Blues are going to bow out rather quickly here, I really want to see Parayko on this team paired up with Vlasic. I'd take me some Schwartz as well.

for now we have:

R O’REILLY C GIROUX W SIMMONDS
J SKINNER M SCHEIFELE M MARNER
M DUCHENE B POINT N MACKINNON
A KILLORN S COUTURIER T KONENCY

M.E. VLASIC _______________ <--------- Colton goes here.
C DE HANN T BARRIE
M MATHESON J DEMERS
J MORRISEY

_________________ <-------------- Crawford or Jake Allen here.
C PICARD
E COMRIE

If we do add a player like Schwartz, Killorn gets demoted to spot duty 13th. forward.

Colton and Vlasic would round it out nice.

I'm assuming Vlasic has already agreed that he's going. but there's nothing official I've seen as of yet.

I think those two, Pickles and Parayko paired up would be a treat. That is of course if the Blues bow out rather quickly...I'd rather not drag it out though.

Don't think it is safe to do that this year no matter what has been reported, lot's of ******** from roving hockey guys this year. When I see it from a credible news source then I'll believe it.

And even if the Blues bow out quickly, we can't assume Parayko is going either.
