Scheifele's attitude is precisely why his game has grown at a phenomenal rate year after year. Thanks for sharing.

Indeed, good for him. He does seem to have a good attitude.

Hockey Canada .... earth to Hockey Canada.

looking at what Canada needs right now if Reily and Vlasic indeed join 1 D is left. I am kind of hoping for some Canucks flavor in the team (Hutton, Stecher, Tanev)?

We should soon know what Hockey Canada has planned, but hearing that Rielly, Vlasic and Crawford are interested should basically mean that they are a given unless there is a big surprise out there somewhere. At this level Vlasic is a legitimate number 1 defenceman, Rielly is a legitimate number 2, and Crawford is a legitimate starter.

You mean Corey Crawford? Thought all the Hawks Canadian players declined.

Keith and Toews declined. Seabrook either declined or just said that he wouldn't accept even if asked. Crawford said that they hadn't asked him but that he was interested.

I hope Canada add 3 D)

Burns (or Giordano) for PP
Vlasic for PK
and Rielly or Hamilton:)

Good I don't want seabrook. I don't want to give up a spot to an older older player over a young one. I'd rather be competitive with the younger than try and win with the older. I want to develop the younger as they will want to win more right now than the older guys

Develop them for what? There isn't another best-on-best tournament for 4 years and the Olympics are in 5. For people who love international hockey this is all we've got now. I'd rather see Canada be competitive with the best roster possible rather than getting younger guys experience for a national team that they probably won't even make in 4 years.

With Eric Comrie and another back up?

I would rather have a few legit starters in front of them

Old or young, Seabrook is simply too slow for the bigger ice in Europe. He would be exploited. As Toronto just showed by pushing the Capitals to the brink: speed kills. Its the great evener. On the big ice we need mobility and lots of it. Seabrook would be a liability.

We heard that Giordano needed two or three days to decide last week. We should have an announcement on him by now.

I'm skeptical that Giordano signs up for a Parisian adventure at this point. And I don't see any official confirmation regarding Vlasic. was that just Dreger speculating? Outside of Giordano and Hamilton familiarity factor, I think Vlasic-Hamilton 1st. pairing might even be better. and makes more sense for any future best on best tournament. Vlasic has a few left in him more so than Gio does. That is of course if we see any future best v best tournaments. That's not a guarantee.

I'm also not expecting Giordano given the time that has passed since Calgary was eliminated. He would be good for this team, but he's old enough that I certainly won't miss him if he isn't there. I'm not concerned about the lack of Vlasic confirmation. I assume that Hockey Canada is just getting confirmation on all of the final players to be added to the team and will make an announcement at the same time. The announcement we heard regarding Vlasic, similar to the information regarding Rielly and Crawford, was that he was interested. Of course if he is interested, the beggars at Hockey Canada cannot be choosers.

It is very quiet. Not sure why. Canada is probably awaiting confirmation form all players and then they will release all remaining names in 1 statement.

I really think that this team could struggle looking at that lineup. Lots of question marks on there. No goaltending yet, not sure why you wouldn't bring Crawford, a Stanley Cup Winning goalie. He's perfectly good for a tournament like this.

I think there are BIG question marks around all the Avalanche guys, certainly MacKinnon has done nothing in his career to impress yet, Duchene is a pretty good complimentary player, but won't lead you, and Barrie I heard had a disastrous year.

The Philly guys should be okay, but Giroux hasn't shown game breaking ability in a while and is apparently nursing a bad hip, Koneckny is very young, I don't like taking guys that young, and I'm not sure how good Simmonds will be on the big ice.

Our defense is mobile at least, but not a ton of experience there yet, and if we haven't heard from Vlassic or Gio yet you gotta wonder, especially if Hextall is talking 2nd round additions.

Skinner CAN be good, but I have seen him take some stupid penalties and be pretty ineffective in past tournaments, granted he should be older and more mature.

I don't know, I think coaching is going to make or break us this year, because the roster seems a bit spotty so far.
