anyone care to give a review of Calvin deHaan? would be appreciated. thx.

He's been okay. Skates well, like in the NHL, and makes simple plays. Defensive positioning has been fine. The only problem is that he has been caught in his own zone by forecheckers a few times when it was quite avoidable.

Anyone from the Rangers Team Canada should be considering for a roster spot? Maybe Rick Nash who has had some international success.

Chris Lee will play tomorrow against France. He's over the moon excited to play his first game in a Maple Leaf at any level.

Not sure if Parayko has made it there yet.

Canada is most likely not adding anyone in terms of forwards, they have 13 already. They are alright. All they need to do is to keep the lines together and build chemistry.

Even McDavid himself calls in HOCKEY CANADA like Crosby in 2015?:)
:popcorn::popcorn:

No. Crosby was on the roster for the whole tournament in 2015, entirely different story. McDavid is not going. He's had enough hockey in this past year. Same goes for Getzlaf & Perry.

ya, I'd like McDavid to be up for it, but not expecting him to be up for it if they lose tonight's game... and quite understandable if he wants to get away to a tropical island with that pretty hot girlfriend of his.

the only thing that may change his mind is if she says she wants an all expense paid vacation in Paris/Cologne compliments of Hockey Canada.

Pretty surprised that Parayko decided to go. He looked pretty worn down in the Nashville series and didn't look like he was at the top of his game. Hopefully he plays well for Canada.

Agreed...Colton has been playing a lot of hockey over the past 12 months...doubt we see his best play but all respect to him for answering the call. It's easy to see the kid lives to play hockey....still doesn't even have a Twitter account, and probably isn't getting one.

Where do you see that Lee is officially on the team? Dreger says that Parayko arrives tomorrow and is not playing the next game.

Yes, they really shouldn't go crazy adding extra guys. Guys volunteer to play for this tournament and should be treated right. It's not a must win tournament, so no need to turn some guys off Hockey Canada. Canada's strategy this year was pretty solid, only taking six defencemen officially and having Lee as a clear spare before eventually adding Parayko. If someone like McDavid calls and asks then you take him, but that is pretty clearly unlikely.

from Lee himself. He said it to a reporter that appeared on a Russian site. Whether or not the Russian website picked it up from a credible western source or it was to a Russian reporter, I don't know. Russian journalism is not all that credible, but this was the quote attributed to him in the article.

"Штаб сборной Канады внес меня в заявку на чемпионат мира, и завтра я проведу первый матч на турнире против французов. Это на самом деле безумная история, я счастлив, что нахожусь здесь. Я никогда не играл за сборную даже на юниорском уровне, если не считать двух Кубков Германии", - сказал Ли.

and well, to make a long sentence short, he says tomorrow he'll play his first game against the French and that he's crazy mad happy to be there.

I am fluent in Russian and he says, "Team Canada is including me in the World Championship and tomorrow I will play my first game at the tournament against the French. In fact, this is a crazy story and I am happy to be here. I have never played for the national team even at the junior level, if you don't count the two German Cups" Lee said.

Thanks. I am also fluent in Russian. I just didn't do a word for word verbatim translation.

Id be fine with Nash coming over. He's scored one of the greatest WC goals of all time to help seal us a gold before, is good on the big ice and had a decent year in the NHL.

candidates for last spot in roster

Ryan Getzlaf,Corey Perry or Connor McDavid

or Jaden Schwartz,Justin Williams

Rick Nash have not good season

The old players like Nash will probably never play for Canada again
We would have heard something from jaden by now
Justin Williams ??? Forget it I'd rather give the opportunity to youngsters
The duck players will not go

I'm surprised no. Of the Calgary defensmen went

Barrie is a significant loss for this team. He was the best offensive defenceman on the team and was playing very well. I assume that it isn't a particularly bad injury, but I understand the caution.

Looking at the games tonight and the Rangers, I don't see any noteworthy defence options to add to the team. I assume that they will rightly just roll forward with Parayko and Lee inserted.
