well Montén seems no better than his predecessor what a suprise..

He put up some points in allsvenskan this season and also the last season. When he was 17 years old he was regular in Brynäs. Experiance from 2 WJC (7 points in 14 games). Fast, gritty player. Not sure why everyone dislike him.

He has 8p in 24 games, while his team mate Boqvist has 7p in 9 games.

Grit, we have that in Grundström and Eriksson Ek for example

Lööke situation reminds of the one with Anton Karlsson. But Karlsson ended up having a good last tournament because of his experience and I think Lööke will be a good all-rounder for this team too. As far as potential neither player is up there but their mature playstyle has a role in this environment.

Can someone tell me a little about Kris Gunnarsson?

Not sure if I agree that Anton Karlsson was particularly good in the last wjc 20 , 1p in 7 games and the overall impression was pretty meh. I actually think A Karlsson was by far the best in his first wjc, then he at least filled a purpose. He come in with a lot of energy etc, that kind of started to disapeared already the second year and was totally gone the third year, he has tried to become more of a playmaker which he didnt have the skills for.

I'm OK with the team, wouldn't have mind seeing at least one of Liljegren/Bouramman/Lindgren instead of Moverare/Gunnarsson/Bernhardt though. Would've liked to see what Boqvist could've done at this tournament too but no surprise he was left off, he wasn't even on the Four Nations roster.

I think that you will be proved wrong. Lööke is a very good energy player, has rutin from two wjc, good pk player. perfect 3rd liner.

Yes Boqvist has much better ppg, but he plays in the top lines (Last games with Dahlen and Pettersson) And Lööke plays in the 3rd line in his club team.

And you cant just build a team based on which players that racks up most points. You need to build a team with role players.
So I dont see anything wrong with Monten, bring a energy player to the 3/4 line.
So it´s wrong of you to compare Lööke and Boqvist in that way. Boqvist is an offensive player and should compete with of offensive players for the top 2 lines, such as Dahlen, Pettersson, Andersson.

Rather Lerby than Lindgren, that played really bad in the two games he played in Göteborg in November. Agree that Liljegren and Bouramman would been intresting to see.

Looke: Gotta think they want his experience and readiness to play wherever the coach darn well pleases. Is he easy to coach? Almost every program brings a few low maintenance guys along, regardless of whether there are 'better' players to be had.

Still can't be sure what (or whether) we'll see from Oliver Kylington, Jacob Moverare, John Dahlström, and Filip Ahl, but if a tourney is going on in North America and the kids playing there at the top levels are having good seasons (not really the case for Bourammann), you've practically got to go with them. For a short tourney, the size on and style of the ice can mean a boatload, especially in the first few games.

As for the rest, the coaching staff can only take so many newbies. Gunnarsson, Bernhardt, & Dahlin on the blueline; Andersson, Dahlén, Davidsson, Ohlsson, Pettersson, Soderlund, Wingerli, and Karlstrom up front. Quite a few! Even if 3-4 of those guys don't factor in, that's plenty of WJC-inexperience to be bringing overseas, regardless of the talent level. As some have pointed out, a few of these guys are pretty small as well.

And no team is going with 4 lines of pure offense. When it comes to the top 5-6 countries at the tourney, there will always be some guys left off the roster that'll have a few people shaking their heads.

Important for Sweden is that Sandstrom, Larsson, Carlsson, Asplund, Eriksson-Ek, Grundstrom and especially Nylander carry the weight game for game. If they do their jobs, all the rest should fall into place. If they fail to get it done, then SWE has to hope that a few of these lesser-knowns put in the performance of their young lives.

In general, a pretty interesting club. Look forward to seeing what they have!

No you do not. I think it is a mistake to focus on single attributes and that you have to have a couple of players that are medicore offensivly, because honestly we seems to think that being bad offensivly is a strong attribute on its own. Lööke is a good example off that, we already have players with grit and energy that also could produce, like Grundström and Eriksson Ek, but also Söderlund, Wingerli and Ohlsson (I am not so happy with that all 3 of them are there), so we already have more than enough of this players with grit and energy where some also actually can contribute offensivly, but we force in players like Lööke anyway, so the only reason (exept he played in the 2 previous tournaments) can be then is that he is medicore offensivly, that itself seems to be a attribute swedish people and coaches hold high, that you should be bad offensivly, because we have more than enough of players with grit and energy, we do not need it but still we take him.

Even if we didnt have players with grit/engery, it is still wrong to only look at a single attribute, they should still be good enough overall also, you can look at those things when the players are close in the overall preformance. You maximize your chances of winning by taken out your best players, not by forcing in obvious worse players.

But we never seem to grasp that and then we wonder why we do not win, we never learn. We always become to top heavy, we relay on 1-2 lines plus maybe 1-2 d-men that they should play like gods for us to win, just because we have forced in many medicore players. It is importent that all 4 lines and d-pairs contribute offensivly, it is not just about top 6 and 1 d-men that shall do that, all have to do it.

Focus on top 6 can make sense in NHL; where you have salary cap to consider, but not in the national team.

Could some of the posters from Sweden give their thoughts on Bernhardt?

Will he make the team in your opinion?

Couple of surprises. I don't mind Ahl and Dahlström over Bratt. Gunnarsson is the odd one to me. Haven't seen much of him, looking forward to seeing him in the exhibition games. Rough depth chart/way-too-early lines?

Elias Pettersson - Lias Andersson - Carl Grundström
Jonathan Dahlén - Rasmus Asplund - Alexander Nylander
Jens Lööke - Joel Eriksson Ek - Jonathan Davidsson
Tim Söderlund - Andreas Wingerli - Sebastian Olsson
Filip Ahl - Fredrik Karlström - John Dahlström

Jacob Larsson - Lucas Carlsson
Gabriel Carlsson - Oliver Kylington
David Bernhardt - Jacob Moverare
Kristoffer Gunnarsson - Rasmus Dahlin

Sandström
Gustavsson

(Werner)

The top 2 lines look very good

Two apples from Marcus "MacDavid" Davidsson tonight. Really think we could have use for him or Bratt, or both.. Oh well

SVT will not broadcast them

That sucks. If I'm not mistaken they usually stream these games right?

Depends who we're playing. I remember last years exhibition game against Slovakia (?) wasn't streamed anywhere. The exhibition games against Canada & USA are always streamed, this year we won't play those teams. Maybe fasthockey will provide a stream though.

I think either Gunnarsson or Bernhardt will be cut. Since Gunnarsson has mostly played in Allsvenskan this season, I don't know much about him. DIF struggled offensively earlier this season, but Bernhardt and the rest of the team seems to have found their footing now.

Player |GP |ATOI
Jacob Larsson |13 |17:04
Lucas Carlsson |21 |15:01
Gabriel Carlsson |21 |14:39
Rasmus Dahlin |12 |11:28
Kristoffer Gunnarsson |5 |10:38
David Bernhardt |21 |10:32

Jacob Larsson hasn't looked great this season.

Nor has Gabriel Carlsson, from what I've seen, and Lucas Carlsson hasn't been as good as he was last year. Still, these are the guys who are going to have to carry the defence. Gabriel Carlsson and Jacob Larsson formed a pairing last year. On paper, reuniting them would make for a strong, all-weather top pair. Doesn't leave a lot for the others, though.

I'm so happy that Montén took out so many big defensive D's rather than the skilled and super talented Liljegren, it worked out sooo well last year for Grönborg! (Nooot!)

Carlsson and Gunnarsson are the only purely defensive D's and Gunnarsson might not even make the team.

You say I am stupid without even argue agaist my arguments? Is this the level you will stay on?

I never said that you should take the 20 best scoring players straight off, as I said when it is close between them you can look at what type of players they are, but when it is not close, then it do not matter what type of player they are.

But yes I am serious, it is importent with scoring deph, and the role that your role players fill, can be filled by far more skilled players. Peter Forsberg was in his prime a very gritty player, but he would never be count in that quota of grit players in your mind, because he also produced, and that is for some weird reason a bad thing apparently.

In what way are players like Lööke better than Eriksson Ek, Grundström etc? They are also gritty two way players, far better in that than Lööke I would say. The team is as I said not even lacking in anything that Lööke is adding, hey the players that are left out are better than him in that. You have mention energy, like Bratt for example do not add energy

You are making it sound like Lööke is some kind of bruiser, which he obviously is not. It's not like we are leaving star players at home in favour of him and it's not like Lööke will play a big role anyways. Energy players like Erik Thorell & Joakim Nordström were two of our best forwards the year we won.
