There are a tonne of guys though who are, or could be 50+ point, 1st line NHL level though under age 25.

Just look at the crop from the 2011 to 2016 drafts:

William Nylander
Gabriel Landeskog
Alexander Wennberg
Filip Forsberg
Mika Zibanejad
Victor Rask
Rickard Rakell
Elias Lindholm
Andre Burakovsky
Alexander Nylander
Joel Eriksson Ek
Oskar Lindblom
Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson
Rasmus Asplund
Jonathan Dahlén
Carl Grundstrom

Now that 70+ points is pretty much star level in the NHL too, and there are a handful of guys there who can potentially reach that level.

Most of them will be just average depth players on the national level compared to top forwards of Canada, USA or Russia. Obviously, some of them (Dahlen, Asplund, A. Nylander, or Grundstrom...) are too young to make this claim, but you know what I mean.

Why isn't Liljegren invited? In what world isn't he good enough?

He really hasn't been that good since returning from injury. Making too many mistakes. Not taking him was the right choice IMO, too risky to take him in a short tournament like this. Dahlin fills his role anyway and has played much better this year.

Interesting if true on his play. Could affect his draft position, maybe a faller like Chychrun? (Look how well thats turned out for Arizona!)

We'll see. I doubt he falls much, this draft just isn't strong enough for that, at least it doesn't look that way right now, and Liljegren still has huge potential. Not making the WJC was probably good for him, now he can stay home and work on his game.

Sweden needs to change their youth program.

The past 7-8 years, 90% of the best players has been defencemen.

We need another Sundin, Alfredsson or Naslund (will not be a new Forsberg in my lifetime), not yet another elite defenceman.

Or.. We could start playing with 3 defensemen and 2 forwards? :sarcasm:

Jacob Moverare, Jonathan Davidsson and John Dahlström cut

Nothing shocking really. Will be interesting to see who plays with Kylington now after Moverare was cut.

Also nice to see Dahlin making the roster :) Probably shouldn't have too high expectations on him this year. He'll be the only returning D next year.

3 smaller undrafted players from skellefteå, how good are these guys?

Andreas Wingerli
Tim Söderlund
Sebastian Ohlsson

Undrafted only because of size. All three of them play with lots of energy. Söderlund is the most skilled of the three, could be the next Viktor Arvidsson.

Not only because of size. In their draft season, Olsson and Wingerli put up respectively 25 points in 36 games and 14 points in 38 games in SuperElit. They're on the team to be defensively reliable energy players and penalty killers. Söderlund strikes me as the kind of player, and Sweden's had a few of them, who can get hot and have a really productive tournament a bit out of nowhere. Guys like Max Friberg, Viktor Arvidsson and Erik Thorell.

Must mean either 1. We have a really strong group of forwards or 2. Monten is an idiot. The Davidsson(J & M) line has been one of very few positives this year for Djurgården. Stats may not show it but I'd say their line has consistently been the best in Djurgården. Without them Djurgården would be in way more trouble

Oh well I'm a little bitter but atleast I get to see Bernhardt :)

You're probably right. For some reason I always think Wingerli and Ohlsson are born in 98.

Might mean he wants to keep the Ahl-Eriksson Ek-Nylander line together after the Russia game. I've never been a fan of Ahl's (nor Bernhardt's, for that matter), but if it works it should make for a fairly deep forward group.

Pettersson - Andersson - Grundström
Ahl - Eriksson Ek - Nylander
Dahlén - Asplund - Lööke
Söderlund - Wingerli - Olsson
Karlström

Oh look the media has already begun to throw a hissyfit because a Djurgården player didn't make it, boo-****ing-hoo

cut from the team today

cut
Jacob Moverare, Los Angeles Kings
John Dahlström, Chicago Blackhawks
Jonathan Davidsson, Davidsson, Djurgardens IF

Whos gonna be the starter in net for most of the tournament has it been confirmed?
