What Boston's biggest needs for upcoming draft?.
Is it goaltending defense or offence or all positions.

Right now seems there's some-kind goalie issue because Rask and Khubodin are injured and Subban hasn't been that good.
So if you were in Don Sweeney who you would take 1st pick.

Would you take 1st line center, scoring winger, puck-moving defenseman, 2way defenseman or back-up goalie for Rask.
Here's some draft eligible prospect for Europe.

Would you take 1st line center ( Patrick,Rasmussen, Vilardi,Poehling, Necas, Andersson Mittestadt, etc) or would you take scoring winger ( Kostin,Comtois, Vesalainen,Tolvanen, Tippet, Popugayev,Yamamoto) or would you take puck-moving defenseman ( Liljegren,Vaakanainen,Heiskanen) or 2-way defeseman ( Valimaki,Hague,Salo,Foote) or would you take solid back-u goalie for Rask.

Drafting a goalie isn't going to solve our current goalie situation.

The answer is the best player available at the time on Sweeneys list.

Off the top of my head I would say this team needs to draft some high-end scoring talent.

A Pastrnak 2.0 so to speak.

Look no further than Greg Meireles , Kitchener Rangers. Leading rookie points in the OHL. Kid is a dog on the puck and one of the fastest skaters in all of junior.

The best player possible.

I'm starting to hope for high end C prospect, someone with #1C potential, the Bergeron/Krejci/Backes group is getting old.

Or yet again high end D-prospect.

JFK could be that guy. It wouldn't hurt to have another in the system though.

No they're not. I thought we were timing the arrival of all of our future D studs to coincide with their prime years?

Aren't we???

He could, but I think that's a bit too high expectations today, difficult to see him reach Tavares, Seguin, McDavid, Mackinnon, Barkov, Eichel, Matthews level.
Just in case I wouldn't mind adding high end C talent.

Looking good so far :sarcasm:

As a Swiss, I would hope for Nico Hischier (the "Swiss McDavid"! Cue laughter now...). As a Bruins fan, BPA (unless that'd be a goalie).

Patrick, Rasmussen, Vesalainen, Popugayev... BPA. Depends on how the prospects seasons pan out and where the Bruins pick ends up.

Yes if you get a chance to get a franchise caliber player you draft that player basically regardless of C, D, W

They have nice depth at all positions, but few if any clear first line guys. If the bad luck continues to pile up they could certainly end up in a position where they can get an elite talent.

At this point it looks like we need to pay a lot of attention to the 2017 draft. Our pick could be a high one. It looks like forward is the strong position, and that's what this team needs. Speed and scoring.

Grzelcyk is a top pairing defenceman

Top D-man. I'd rather overload on that position, since there's a fair chance that none of our current prospects will turn into a #1 defenceman. It's also the most important position in hockey, IMO. Still, I'd pick a forward over a defenceman if he happens to have clearly better potential.

It seems like a weaker class for defensemen this year. Liljegren is the one at the top of the class, and honestly he sounds a lot like a Sweedish McAvoy. Short, Stout, offensive minded RH shot defenseman.

Foote is interested in the 8-12 range, but another RH shot.

Looks like a decent deep group of talented C and wings, and some guys with SIZE

Rassmussen intrigues me

I'd go goalie and try and make up for the Subban mistake.

Having a young #3 better than the backup down in Providence as insurance for the next few years while Rask is around would be ideal. Shame we don't have that right now and that important #3 spot is held by a huge bust who happens to have a famous last name and was a 1st rounder so is still here taking the place of someone better (anyone would be better.)

Not sure if we can scout the goalies well enough to make this a smart move.

Don't see us picking top 10 even with how bad we look right now just too much crap in the east. If we miss the playoffs the pick is 9-11 at best.
