There certainly is no hype surrounding this draft class when it comes to elite caliber high end talent like there was for Matthews, Laine and Puljujärvi or McDavid and Eichel, so it has the potential to turn out like the 2012 or 2014 drafts. Still some good talent availabe throughout, but it certainly is no 2008 or 2003 like draft class.
It's still early though as some of these teens can make huge strides once their seasons get rolling and some of them could really shine with an impressive performance against their age group in the WJC.

Last time the Kings had a pick in every round was the 2014 draft, with a total of 10 selections.

However, a number of those picks are no longer with the team as McKeown was dealt in the Sekera trade and the Kings didn't bother to sign Alec Dillon, Jake Marchment, Matt Mistele and Jacob Middleton to ELC contracts.
So 5 out of those 10 picks remain within the pipeline.
And prior to 2014, the last draft the Kings had a pick in every round was in 2009 when they made 10 selections, 8 of which have played in the NHL. Would be nice for the Kings to have another one of those types of drafts.

If I recall correctly it was Sid, Ryan and Jack as the top guys with Kopi being the top European but coming from a small country with no NHL history they questioned how good he'd be so he fell from top 5 to 11 and changed our franchise...

Brule, while he didn't pan out, was also held in very high regards. And Johnson was expected as the #2 as being a complete defenseman who was friends with Crosby.
So: Crosby, Johnson, Brule, Kopitar were the big names.
For me the biggest shocker was CBJ since it was speculated in our media that they had great interest in Kopitar... Had good laught when CBJ's GM (from back then) went public last year about regret for not drafting kopi

There's a sad/funny behind the scenes video series that the Blue Jackets did with the 2005 Draft. Due to the lockout, all the teams' scouts were relegated to their hotel rooms since the NHL couldn't put together a big venue draft on short notice.
When Minnesota took Benoit Pouliot at #4, Columbus scouts started celebrating. I believe one scout exclaims "We're getting Brule or Kopitar!" Just imagine how history might be different had Montreal drafted Brule at #5 like everybody thought they should have at the time.
2017 Draft
Looking at some Mock drafts, I see a couple names that keep popping up in and around where LA would currently draft. The actual draft position in in flux, but thought I'd ask about some of these players anyway.
Ryan Poehling C St. Cloud State 6'2 174 33gms 7g 6a 12pim. Looking at stats, I'm confused why he's a top 15 pick in almost every mock draft.
Cody Glass C Portland WHL 6'2 179 63gms 27g 58a 34pims +24. Seems like a very realistic target for LA.
Nicolas Hague LD Mississauga OHL 6'5 216 59gms 18g 26a 92pims +15. Numbers are intriguing, but I know nothing of his actual game. DL does love drafting dmen though.
Martin Necas F Brno Kometa Czech 6'0 167 41 gms 7g 8a 6pims -2. Playing in the Czech league as a 18yr old.
Lias Andersson C HV71 SWE 5'11 190 40gms 9g 10a 18pims +21. Putting up impressive #'s for a 18yr old in the SweHL league.
Anyway, just some players I've seen pegged for us. There's many other choices, figured we may as well discuss them.

Typically we don't see many first time draft eligibles who are college freshmen.
If it wasn't family motivated, Poehling would have likely been putting up better numbers against lesser competition in a lower league. 2016 1st rounder Kieffer Bellows had a bit of a transition going from USHL to NCAA this year which is usually par for the course.
That said, I think I've heard others project him more as a good 3rd line pro center which probably isn't the sexiest upside. Maybe another indicator of this draft being somewhat of a down year.
My first concern with watching him was his skating. First comparable that popped into my mind was Eric Gelinas.

Hopefully Lombardi keeps his first this year, with how unpredictable the draft looks id like to see him try to trade up into the top 5
