Still dreaming...:help:
then again,still dreaming,...different coaching staff.

Well. Lindgren&Sihvonen on Yle Puhe just had re-runs of the post-WC interview of Pasi Kaukoranta, who was horrified of the planned young junior scene developments where they would play no-contact no-shots hockey and not count scores and stats and also have older juniors settle the playoffs in best-in-three.

Maybe our shameful crawling here helps those in positions in the Association to grow up the needed glandulars to finally go and tell the notorious academic moms that it is supposed to be a competitive sport and not a fun daycare facility, and thank you very much we will continue count scores because otherwise it'd be akin to long jumper juniors not having their jumps measured.

Bring on the fatal beating. Even though it hurts, don't matter.

Our junior program did not get better. Pulju Laine Aho at the same time were a fluke. See you in 15 years, maybe we'll have another rising star by then.

Well, most countries wouldn't be able to absorb losing that kind of offensive firepower and still be successful. Actually, I can only think of two (Canada and the U.S.).

Obviously with Laine, Puljujarvi, and Aho being too good to play this year, the Finns do not have the depth to replace such great players.

BTW Was Rantanen eligible this year also? He turned 20 late October, but is a 2015 drafted player.

Nope.

Let's ignore the coaching, how the hell can't our players honestly shoot?
You just know when Nattinen& Saarijarvi, who were used as our shooters can't hit the net, they either get a) blocked or b) miss the net.
3rd period was Saarijarvi making a "nice" move to get past a player just to get his shot blocked by the defenseman over and over again.

The shots that go in the net are level 15y olds, embarrassingly weak shots that should not go in at this level.

Fgs, we truly are the nation of huge pessimistic over reaction, we love misery. You honestly can't compare us now and say 10 yrs ago. We are much stronger, much more competitive.

You really think you are worse than Denmark with the amount of Liiga players you have? There is obviously a coaching issue. We finished 6th last year, bad coaching can be the difference between a medal and the relegation rounds..

Nope.

Honestly, you take Laine and Puljujarvi out of any team's line up. It would be a downgrade. You guys obviously are not feeling too good right now. But I wouldn't be too hard on the Finnish system or quality of players when you take time to reflect on how good Finland has been lately developing talent.

Very does that place Finland now if that was a period historically low output? If you suck and then improve, it does not place you exactly next to Sweden in terms of quality. There is still the highest plateau to reach for.

It is the big picture everyone should look at. Coaching is great, goaltending good, player material just fine. Meidän peli is missing.

Not having Pulju and Laine can't explain these players shooting.
It's been embarrassing to watch.

But we shouldn't forget that in the u23 group we have Barkov, Risto, Rantanen, Aho, Kapanen, Honka, Juolevi, Laine, Pulju, Teravainen, with Vesalainen, Tolvanen, Valimaki, Heiskanen, Vaakanainen developing and soon to be drafted.
Last year spoiled us and we expect 17y olds to carry us in 19y tourney, but instead of 3 we have now 5 17y olds in key roles.

+Developing a high end C to go with Barkov is a must for our team, which this tourney is well showing.

16 points in 14 games in his freshman year at the University of Denver? Not sure it's all that accurate to bury the guy after two games in a WJC tournament.

:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Maybe pick players that actually know how to play instead of guys like "1st round pick WTF" Borgstöm.

Finland played quite good game against Denmark. Danish guys just had a bit luck (we didn't) and won the game. Saarijärvi will be one hell of a player it he finds the way to shoot the puck on goal.

Finland-Sweden will be awesome game. If we loose, chances are that our players dominate tournament scoring table because relegation round. Just like in 2013

...is this a joke? Our game was in shambles and there were only a few actual great scoring opportunities at least in comparison to the number of shots.

Saarijärvi seems like a Hietanen clone in that he looks great but gets little done..."finding a way to shoot the puck on goal" is a rather significant aspect!

The worst thing is, Saarijärvi actually CAN be the quarterback for the PP. He did that last year with decent results. How he managed to hit every ****ing Dane (expect the goalie) within sight last night is beyond me.

I'm still speechless. Not once have I seen something that bad on the ice. We are on the verge of deserving to get relegated.

I don't give a damn about how the rest of the games go, but Jesus Christ, if the lines don't get blown up completely, the management is just playing oblivious. We have no working combinations, so there's no reason not to try and find some.

Good for them, Looks like Olli is taking a serious leadership role beyond his captainship, I think the finish players also are ******** on the coaches behind the scenes imo.

That's really good but the damage is already happen.
If Finland goes quarterfinals i'm not convinced of that our boys are able to beat Canada.

That most likely won't happen but damage control is needed anyways. A tourney exit by losing to the hosts formidables, good ol Canadian boys , is a respectful way to end this year's WJC campaign for the current title holders; playing in the relegation round against Latvia or something surely wouldn't be that regardless of the outcome.

Kudos to Olli et al. breaking it to clueless & delusional Ent Ironwoods and his jolly hobbit squire that their "system" sucks big time. And this is a completely different ball game than some tedious league hockey Finlandese.
