We seem to be on the right track... at least 11 drafted players will represent Czech Republic at the WJC, that's the same number as Russia and 2 more than Finland, for example,

I am excited about the WJC and upcoming years. Young players like Necas, Safin, Skarek, Zadina or Kondelik and pretty intriguing group of defensemen.

Very interesting isn't it? I noticed that the other day and was kind of surprised. If we get Zacha our top 6 likely looks like this..

Zacha-Spacek-Musil
Stransky-Chlapik-Kase

That looks pretty respectable..
Saying my prayers

And yes the future is very intriguing. Next year will be a bit of a down year maybe, but in 2 years we should be really good. Better then this year

My thoughts based on the U-19 tournament. Watched most of it.

Ondrej Prochazka,
Super underrated 19 yr old player. This is Hockey Canada's evaluation of him before the tournament.
"powerful skater … excellent quickness … hard to check … smart game carrying the puck … plays with intensity … very good passer … effective under pressure … drives hard"
Perfect evaluation.. He's got really good size and is super effective under pressure. Would be a better fit for the Czechs 4th line then Kurovsky. I seriously think its a loss not having him. I was pleasantly surprised with him. And i mean, what good is it for the team, to have Filip Suchy on the 4th line? Just doesnt make sense after seeing these guys play.

Jakub Sirota,
Should be there instead of Kvasnicka maybe. Similar player but a bigger body. Would be more effective imo. Played really well in the tournament. Hockey Canadas evaluation..
"effective in one-on-one play … excellent skater … moves well forward and backward … quick first step … good offensive instincts … passes with authority … responsible defender"
Again, spot on evaluation. Disappointing not to have him. Better be there next year.

Can you share a link or something from where did you get that evaluation?

..

If you were in the utter horror of the best player Jasek, the more it shows how big is the loss Lakatos. Zacha I'd lost count, nor his father knew that it would not lead any negotiations. NJ rejected it once and it does not look to change. Indeed, it will not deliver to Zacha, but rather that the coach sacked players like Koblížek, Krenželok, Suchy and gave it a really regulations. Because this looks like ****.

The absence of Lakatos is not the reason why Canada thrashed us. We suck, plain and simple. I just hope this tournament doesn't end up being an embarassment. Also, I thought this was historically the best d we've ever iced? It sure doesn't look like it right now.....

I know. It is a reaction that, over its absence here waved casually hand. While its level is far higher than those players who have played there today.
Defense is now on coaches. If there remains Krenželok, it will be questionable.

Making conclusions based on 2 friendly games against CANADA? I couldn't care less about the outcome of these games.

Well I'm glad you're not the coach then. Cos losing two games 8-0 and 5-0 is not acceptable imo.

I'm with Tade on this one.. Finland lost 5-0 as well and they had 7 power plays. We had 1 last night. Were also missing Chlapik and Kase.
I seriously am not that worried. It sucks but Canada looks to really be on a whole other level this year. I have high expectations against Finland with all our guys there. They looked like they are still trying to find chemistry with each other, and, getting used to the ice size.
Eventually I think they will get going. You could tell they had zero chemistry last night. Canada is firing on all cylinders right now. I'm not surprised by the result.

I missed Spacek and Kalina.
The reason for concern, because we were literally embarrassed.

Spacek wasn't there either eh? So our top 3 forwards were gone and we lost to the top nation 5-0 at home. You're really worried? Hmm
Also, Krenzelok was baaaaad and was the reason for 2 goals in that game. He was getting a lot of minutes. Hope he gets cut.
There's a lot of different reasons for this loss. Still isn't acceptable sure. But I don't know why you guys are surprised. They will get it together eventually. Have a little faith in the boys. I have a feeling that no one will beat Canada this year.

My thoughts on the game.

I was really impressed by Vala. He was the best defenseman by far.
Other then the 2 turnovers, I thought Necas was good. Creative.
Reichel looked way out of place.
Kodytek, as I expected, did nothing. Needs to go home.
Koblizek was better then I expected. He does have good skill. He's just small.
I hope Soustal and Musil are better then that game. They were terrible.

So anyways. listen guys. Our best players were missing. Our lines were mixed and mashed.(especially our top 6). We had only 1 PP. compared to finlands 7 against them. And these were our lines.

Andel-Soustal-Dufek
Stransky-Kodytek-Musil
Kurovsky-Necas-Suchy
Jasek-Reichel-Koblizek

You think that was going to compete against Canada? You have to be kidding me.
And about the defense. Yes, maybe they should have been better. But defense relies on the forwards too, and their positioning. And on top of alll that. Canada has a huge size advantage.
All these things came into play last night. You seriously can't be that surprised.

Not taking anything away from Canada though. Frig they really played well and mostly dominated. They still would have won no matter what. But we will be better then this imo.

Canada is elsewhere, few players would not change the huge difference in quality. Comforted by the fact that we lost such a way, because we were faced with quality and still pretend that we are a candidate for a medal? It does not make sense.
The thing that we looked at all the activities badly outnumbered tragically suggested solutions that we have many times absurdly suggested solutions forcheking when we got to him. the point is that we were not the least bit competitive when it was ridiculous how many times our players were free of foreign culpability fell on the ice, were simply not able to accept the necessary pace of the game. The attackers were unable to help the defense, getting trapped raids players. In defense zone chaos. And I like to be cool? I excused my first match, but the second after several days of training was equally bad.
It is possible that with Finland, it will be another match, put together .. I want to believe it, but still apologizing that nothing is happening is wrong.
I agree, Vala played well, but for Krenželok there, we did not get any goals. Perhaps Petr sees it and makes the proper cut team

I didnt wacth it but according to discussion on HF it could go 10-0. ????

I hate when people say "could have been". Sure it could have been 10-0. Also could have been 5-3 or 5-4. But it wasn't.
But with that being said, Czechs were definitely outclassed by a mile. No question.

Does anyone know if Switzerland has a good team this year? They lost 4-3 to Canada in OT....

Are we the worst team in the tournament?
Serious question.

EDIT: Hajek cut? wtf coach, and he keeps Krenzelok... something stinks...

Switzerland has a very well balanced lineup, a real good top 6, decent D as well. Overall I'd say that there's no major difference between your team and the Swiss in terms of talent.

Serious question.
Nah. Denmark is worse, even though offensively they have quite a lot of talent and might pose a threat, if their goalie stands on the head. Latvia and Slovakia are not as good either - you guys have a little bit more depth than both of these teams.

You're 6th/7th best in the tournament. :)

Not sure it's as bad as you think. However, the genius that decided the Czechs' pre-tournament schedule should be Canada, Canada and then USA, should be fired!

It's bad but no way it should be 0:8, 0:5 and 0:4 bad. This team stinks. :help:

No way guys like Krenzelok, Hrdinka, Budik or Kvasnicka are better than Hajek... just none. Unless some miracle happens I am expecting Vaclav Varada to overtake the U20 team as a coach. Don't have the faith in Petr anymore...
