The U19's also just beat Canada to make the semifinals
Canada West. So not the best that Canada ices at this level.
8-0 is worrying but I'll agree that it's probably jet-lag and getting used to the NA rink.
I realize that. But it's also our worst forward group in the last 5 years... it's only going to get better from here. But they also beat USA.
Czechs had their first practice that morning. I expected Canada to blow them out. Not by that much though lol. Let's judge them December 21st. If they lose big again. You gotta start questioning the coaching of Jakub Petr... This team is waaay to good and deep on paper to get blown out by anybody.
Just think about Finland in 2014. Gold medalists. You think their team was better then this one? If so, barely. They had 2 or 3 draft picks on offense... that's it.
How about Slovakia 2 years ago? Same thing. Bronze medal with a mediocre team.
So if Czechs fail miserably this year. We know the real problem. Petr will have to go. No excuses this year.

I don't want to offend anyone. I just every year try to make Czechoslovakian line up. So what do you think? How many Slovakian players are good enough to make Czech team this year? I see only Bondra, Čerňák and maybe Tomek (I still don't know where is Stezka).
Lakatos outHe goes back to Czechia.
Decent loss. Was curious to see how he would do. But I'm not too worried. There are guys who can fill that place in. Just sucks for his chances of being drafted though.
Lakatos is out... injury.
Last year Vrana and Karabacek...this year Lakatos and Kase. Why can't we ever have a fully healthy team with no top player injuries...?
And yes, he got injured in that blowout loss against Canada. In hindsight, wish the game was never played, huge loss and top player injury. yikes.
EDIT: Maybe I am/was too high on Lakatos, but I truly think he would have been one of the best on the team.
Is Kase confirmed to be out?
I was optimistic till Lakatos' injury. Our forward lines looks weak now.
Stransky-Chlapik-Suchy
Musil-Reiche-Spacek
Soustal-Necas-Koblizek
Pavlik-Kodytek/Andel-Jasek

You guys are missing the point... for example. Do you ever remember slovaks getting beat 8-0 by anyone? Maybe but like once? I don't even think so. Slovaks have rarely ever had a better team then us but about every 2nd year, for the last 10 years, they've outperformed Czechs. That does not come down to development of players. It comes down to coaching. Those guys have never had a better team then what we have this year. At least not for a veerrrry long time.
I also didn't like what Petr said last year after losing to USA. "It doesn't matter if we lose 8-0 or 4-2, a loss is a loss." I do not like this mentality. So it scares me a little going into this tournament.
It comes down to our depth. I think it's pretty darn good. I'm not saying we should win a medal necessarily but I am saying that we should be past the days of being blown out. Especially with the team we have.

Speaking of Prerost, I saw him in some video about Czech academy system.... lol, how is he still allowed to do work in Czech hockey.![]()
I don't see what the fuss is about Lakatos. Alright, I haven't seen him since the last WJC but back then he didn't convince me he was such a great player that his loss would hit us hard. He's no Pastrnak or Zacha. Unlikely he gets drafted. Top player? Nah.
I'd be more upset if someone like Necas couldn't make it tbh.
Just saw your edit. Fair enough![]()
Is there any possibilities that we will see Zacha in WJC?
