This is a team that needed to lose that last game.

Your marquee player being Dylan Strome means you have to be a 4 line team that plays well defensively and fights for everything it gets and it did not do that last game. That humbling loss gives them a chance to regroup, take nothing for granted and work on the things they need to work on and become determined to put on a better showing then last time out from here on in.

The goaltending is still a concern and unless it gets settled it can't win gold even with a more improved team game but at least they can acquit themselves far better then the U.S game.

First step today.

We are the better team

The Czech team is no match, unfortunately. Canada will roll over them and everyone will get excited. Then the real competition will come and problems will surface again. Don't think they have the horses to compete with the US or Swedes.

Only fools would get excited about any big score win over the Czech team.

I do expect problems against any of the big boys from here on in. Jack Slater pointed out a huge problem quite some time ago, that being lack of offensive production and even chances 5 on 5, that just has to get better. As you say, we may not have the horses this year, very possible. But I just know they are capable of better play then what they showed in the U.S game. I just wonder if this team is really quick enough to match a team like the U.S this year but surely we can play better against them then last outing.

Ingram sounds like the guy from here on in, the right call. Still, I am not sure how much that really says. This was the year goaltending was supposed to be a strength and I said I would believe when I see it, so far I was right. Oh well, heres to hoping we get the absolute best he can be from here on in, all we can do is hope on that front.

Well, we are probably the better team in this game coming up no doubt.

It is after this where it becomes very questionable.

No Myers hurts but I don't think it is something that absolutely floors this teams chances. Top goaltending from Ingram would wipe away no Myers more then capably.

I hope they are not looking over their shoulders because the Swedes look much better than we have looked at any game
I would consider the Canadian win over Swedes as an upset

Wow, too funny on the analysis on Ingram. That shows the total lack of knowledge of the game right there.

Did you fail to see the big breakaway save he made before the end of the 2nd period to give his team a chance?

Ingram got better as the game went on, didn't regress like Hart.

Agree with you here except I prefer Hart over Ingram, but really probably just a toss up. I think they can play better also, but when you play a weak team players quickly pick up bad habits, mostly selfish, and then need time to adjust against tougher competition. Let's hope they get down to business and stick to it throughout the remainder of tournament. I believe they will win a medal, just not sure which one.

I don't know if you are talking about me or not but I will agree that he did get better as the game went on, but he still looked shaky at times out there, I don't know how anyone could have missed that, he looked tentative and unsure of himself going side to side.

We need rock solid from the start of the game, not better as the game goes on, because by that point it could already be too late.

Hart did not inspire any confidence in me at all the times he played. I would be very nervous putting him in there.

Why does Barzal insist on trying to do everything himself? Pass the damn puck!!!

If he doesn't change this, "me first" style of play he'll become the next Yakapov.

Any chance for Canada versus Sweden?

Sweden's offense and especially defense has looked stellar. Canada has stumbled through the tournament so far and has received next to no goaltending, hitting a low against the Czechs. What are you expecting from this game?

For Canada to stand a chance against Sweden, their forecheck will have be consistent across all 4 lines, not just the Cirelli line. Sweden's d can't be given the free time to get the puck to their forwards that all excel in transition. It might be a little bit of a blessing to face a team in Sweden that hasn't had to play at 100 mph at all during the tournament. If Canada plays with pace and it might take Sweden a period to adjust and by that time Canada may be able to build a lead.

I hope Canada can do it but I see them playing Russia for Bronze, maybe they can find some magic on home ice.

Going to be a tough game to win vs Sweden IMO. I do not like the depth on D or in net. We will need stellar goal tending and we will need to capitalize on our scoring chances. Keeping the Swedes in their end to the extent possible is an absolute must

Canada basically down to 4 reliable Dmen.

I'd be happy if Julssen and Bean don't take another shift this tournament, unfortunately they have to.

The odds are in Canada's favor IMO but they'll likely try to play up underdog as much as they can.

Jost needs to get going, looked great early and now he's pulling a disappearing act.

:shakehead

Have you even watched the games?

Just because he hasn't shown up on the scoreboard doesn't mean he's "disappearing". He's created a lot of opportunities and had some chances. It was dumb luck that he didn't get one today.

He also drew a penalty that led to a Canada goal tonight as well if I remember correctly.

I feel like Canada took 12 of the same forward and none of them know how to play away from the puck.

Also Barzal isn't as good as he thinks he is.

Can't really fault ingram except maybe the second goal he was out of position. He can't really afford to let those in against a better team.

Pure speculation on my part, but it looks like Barzal is used to being far and away the best player on his team, so he legitimately feels his team's best chance to win is if he takes on more himself. If so, he needs to trust his teammates at higher levels.

Juulsen has come as advertised. Moves the puck really well, solid defensively, physical. Plays 1st PK usually. His passes are tape to tape, just a nice simple game.

I think he looks great. Very consistent smart physical player that can skate, has alot of Methot in him.
