Me to I don't expect Beauvillier to be loaned but I would be happy if he is. It's now three consecutive games he is an healthy scratch. And they can always recalled players like Bernier, Dal Colle or Ho-Sang if there is an injury to one of the players.

Beyond the 9 game intro, I don't get the healthy scratching of jr aged players. They have to play. Isles should make him available and send him back if they are not going to play him

Jost - Strome - Gauthier
Dubois - Barzal - Stephens
Steel - McCleod - Raddysh
Senyshyn - Roy - Joseph
Cirelli

Chabot - Juulsen
Bean - Girard
Lauzon - Myers
Fabbro

Hart
McNiven

just a gut feel, but I think Isles release Beauvillier. Arizona I doubt releases anybody... and that's fine by me.

you can forget Marner or Konecny.

Well I knew there was no chance with marner and konecny I was really wondering about Crouse,Chyc and Beau. I can only guess the exact reasons why you have no problem with the 2 arizona possibles staying in Arizona but I sort of feel the same way in their attendance. I question a guy like Chycruns motivation, he strikes me as a bit of a mercenary type and sticking him on the team at short notice might disrupt team chemistry. Still hopeful for Beau but not holding my breath.

given Bailey's career to date of a #90A pick, Snow may want to reevaluate his development model. It isn't working too well for him or that organization. But NHL GMs love to be stupid.

We won't know until the roster freeze kicks in on the 19th. fingers crossed.

That is the thing isn't it? it does not seem his way of developing guys is working all that well, you would think he would step back from it and go in a different direction with his young players and send them to things such as this. It certainly couldn't hurt them, any way you cut it they need to be playing hockey.

I don't give Crouse or Chychrun that much credit for managing to stick around the Arizona Coyotes. I give them some credit for doing what Strome wasn't able to do, but not that much...I don't believe Crouse is a 1st line player, but because he'd be on loan from the NHL, playing in his 3rd. tournament Hockey Canada would adorn him with the C, staple him on the 1st line attached to Strome's hip and have TSN market the hell out of some imagined Crouse/Strome chemistry where none is evident. We've seen that dog and pony show before. And I have no confidence that particular duo could make it work and zero confidence that Hockey Canada (coaches) would make the necessary changes. We'll just call it the Jake Virtanen treatment...let's not **** off NHL GMs too much...

perhaps with it being a home tournament things will be different, but you know me, Mr. Hockey Canada Critic. I'm not convinced of that. Anyway, we shall see.

I'd rather Beauvillier than Crouse. He's just a more talented, versatile and skilled player than Crouse.

As for Chychrun, it will be a bigger gap to fill on next year's team than this year. I'm happy with the 10 or 11 D invites.

I had a pretty good chuckle at this, I had never thought of the Crouse/Strome dynamic but HC could very well do just that.

Good call!!

Crouse saw significant time on Strome's wing at last year's tournament - more so as the tournament progressed and Crouse was moved up from the Stephens/Konecny line. It didn't work particularly well last year, and (if Crouse is in fact released, which I doubt) I don't see any reason why it would work this year.

Mr. Writer is exactly right about what would happen if Crouse got loaned. A letter and first line duty. These are conditions imposed by the NHL team. In my opinion, it's not quite right to do that sort of thing, but I'm also not oblivious to the realities of hockey politics. If Hockey Canada wants guys loaned from the NHL, they are going to have to play ball.

As for TSN playing up any kind of special chemistry, I've gotta tell you that isn't part of the deal, they just do that **** on their own!

Based on who's in camp right now, my team would look like this.

Dubois- Strome- Gauthier
Jost- Barzal- Senyshyn
Howden- Roy- Stephens
Steel- McLeod- Speers
Joseph

Chabot- Juulsen
Lauzon- Myers
Bean- Fabbro
Girard

Hart
Ingram

Just a feeling but if Jost makes the team, I think he will be one of their best players this year.

Pretty underwhelming team to say the least..

Going into camp, this is the forward group I'd like to see take shape:

Jost - Strome - Raddysh
Steel - Barzal - Gauthier
Dubois - Roy - Stephens
Howden - McLeod - Senyshyn
Speers

The 1st and 2nd lines will be counted on to provide offense for this team. I like the Strome & Raddysh pairing for the reasons I've already mentioned, and I like Jost with them as a high-IQ, all-around offensive threat that should be able to play well off of Strome. Barzal & Gauthier played together last year, and while I'm not normally in favour of playmaking-biased forwards at wing, I think Steel fits well here with Barzal as the catalyst and Gauthier as the finisher.

3rd line is the matchup line. Two big fellas in Dubois and Roy, and some nice grit, speed, and experience (not to mention scoring ability) with Stephens. If Roy's skating becomes an issue, the simple switch would be to move Stephens to center but at this point I see Stephens as more adaptable to the wing.

The 4th line is really a third scoring line constructed around the elite skating ability of McLeod and Senyshyn. McLeod has strong puckhandling skills in the middle, and there is good finishing ability on the wing. Senyshyn in particular is heating up at the right time. With McLeod and Howden, this line should also be strong defensively.

Speers is a good all-around guy to have as a 13th forward, with the concern being his limited game action this year (only 4 games in total). If he can't get himself in game shape over the next two weeks, Cirelli or Joseph would also be options here.

nothing really to argue with there...

it will all come down to 3 things: Coaching, Strome and Goaltending. I'm hopeful for the 1st., doubtful of the 2nd., no bigger Strome skeptic than me and confident for the 3rd.

Hope it all works out for the best.

I'm neutral on coaching until I start seeing some of the lineups at camp and how the boys play at the exhibition games.

Consider me cautiously optimistic on Strome. While he was good last year, he was also saddled by Virtanen and Crouse for the majority of the tournament. Assuming he gets better/more appropriate linemates, he should have a good tournament. Also, Barzal should be counted on to take some of the scoring pressure off of Strome, which I believe he's fully capable of doing. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Barzal ends up being our best player this tournament.

Also confident in the goaltending.

I could certainly get behind a lineup like that. Pretty much the same group i'd take, arranged a little differently.

I'm not really high on taking Senyshyn, i'd take Joseph instead. But i do like the idea of Senyshyn and McLeod's speed working together there. That could definitely work.

Not sure i'd want both of Barzal and Steel on the same line. Two of the best playmakers on the team, and neither of them are really huge volume shooters to take advantage. But sometimes that weirdly works. :dunno:

I think that's a solid group to take though, and a pretty good starting point to putting lines together to at least try out. Ultimately that's what it'll come down to...who finds chemistry quickly. But those make a lot of sense on paper.

Connor McDavid is still eligible to play for this team
Could you imagine

This is only the third time that a WJC eligible player is arguably the best player in the world, along with Gretzky in 1981 (maybe 1980 as well) and Crosby in 2007.
