Chychrun-Fabbro
Lauzon-Roy
Meloche
Guhle ( if Chychrun is in NHL )

Sawchenko
McNiven
Hart

I don't think that Marner will be in the NHL. Nylander was more ready than him and he isn't. Marner has some work to do regarding physical strength.

Nylander is playing pro hockey. He's right where he needs to be.

Marner is head and shoulders above his competition right now and shouldn't be staying in the OHL longer than this season.

I don't think he's ready for the NHL in a top six role. He would have dominated against these kids out there if he was.

He looked good on the PP and during 4 on 4 when there was room out there. There will be even less room in the bigs.

And you don't want him in the bottom six.

Are you saying AHL? Is he old enough?

I had him on the team in a previous thread because Toronto's new management seems to have a more patient approach. What they do is anyones guess at this point, he is obviously too good for junior. Maybe he pulls a Matthews who knows.

Marner will show up at the Leafs training camp. I will assume that the Leafs will have 12 signed NHL forwards. He will have to beat AT LEAST 3 or 4 of those guys out in camp if he wants a spot.

the Leafs have never been a team to hand spots to teenagers. If he isnt one of the best players at our camp, he will go back to junior. Its that simple

Even if Marner doesn't go back to Junior I can still see the Leafs releasing him for the tourney .. They're probably not going to be in winning position next year, Marner will likely still need a lot of physical development and won't be playing big minutes with the Leafs if that's the case.

Makes for a good case one way or the other. But if he does not improve his Physicality by September I think the O is where he will be as the Knights not only are going on a run for the M Cup this year, they will have just as storng as of a team next year minus Dzorak. and will once again bid on hosting it next year.

What do people think about possible coaches? McCrimmon? Groulx was an assistant to Sutter in 2014, so I think that's an option. It looked like he was in control of the forwards this year and I know this year was a disaster but he has a good track record, if Patrick makes the team you never know about favouritism but McCrimmon doesn't seem like that type of guy. Always run the risk though. Maybe Stan Butler? Just won the Hlinka with the '98s but he hasn't won a WJC despite coaching in '01 and '02. North Bay known as a solid two-way team that plays a structured style of game. He's respected around the hockey world as well.

Konecny for captain.

Marner and Strome come back with a vengeance.

Sawchenko for goalie. Next years team takes Gold.

If the Leafs are smart, Marner will not be playing for them next year.

Same with the Sens and Chabot, although this has more to do with refraining from developing a player by throwing him onto the worst d-corps in the NHL.

Considering he was a borderline guy going into camp, I think Chabot did as well as could be expected.

All that said, I wouldn't bring him up to the Senators either.

If our defensive corps was better, there would be no room for him.

As it is, he'd get to watch a lot of pucks fly at our goalie on a regular basis.

As a leafs fan, Marner is too good for OHL and sure as heck not strong enough for the NHL. If the situation calls for it, I can see Him in a Euro mens league, and certainly at the worlds next year with top line duties.

Side note...Dermott is eligible, is He not? Havn't seen him on any rosters.

Considering how bad the Sens defensemen (outside Karlsson) are, how well he played in training camp this year, and how he has developed as a player so far this season, I'd probably give Chabot a good 50:50 odds that he sticks in the NHL next season.

If he was a prospect for just about any other team in the league, he's probably on Team Canada next season, but as a Sens prospect, he'll probably be a regular on the NHL team just because of the other players on the roster.

Butler would be a good choice. His WJC teams overachieved. McCrimmon also wouldn't be bad, though I don't like that he has a player likely to be on the team. The QMJHL representative will be important, because this upcoming team will probably have more QMJHL players than we usually see.

Rough draft, assuming: No McDavid, Strome, Marner, Crouse, Sprong (citizenship + NHL). I wouldn't be surprised to see Gauthier or Dubois stick in the NHL following the draft, but who knows.

Beauvillier Barzal Gauthier
Dubois Patrick Konecny
Benson Stephens Merkley
Jost McLeod Senyshyn
Roy

Chabot Juulsen
Lauzon Roy
Guhle Meloche
Bear

Hart
Sawchenko
Booth

Should be a lot of pressure on this upcoming team. Not a lot of talent to fill the 2018 and 2019 teams.

Ugh, what does that say about our team.

Poor Chabot.

Oh come on. Ask any 19 year old defenseman if he wants to line-up with Erik Karlsson as his defensive partner, and I guarantee 99.5/100 say yes.

Chabot will not play 26-35 minutes a game as an NHL rookie.

Look at Chris Wideman - best defenceman in the AHL last year and he's a bottom-pairing NHLer this year.

The gap is huge.

Chabot looked good in a couple NHL training camp exhibition games but to ask him to go out and play against NHLers at this stage is premature, regardless of the state of our d-corps.

Hopefully some people at the top are fired. Disappointing finish, the boys played hard though against the Finns.

I would like to see dale hunter coach, super bias being from London.

That looks pretty good. After such a small team this year, Patrick, Dubois, Gauthier, McLeod, Roy, are all 6'2+. I don't think there's a lot of depth to choose from but the talent in the first 10-15 forwards is stronger than this years. Harkins, Dube, Vande Sompel, Spencer, Myers. This team has too much high-end talent for '99s. I really like the look of a Dubois-McLeod-Gauthier line, big, quick, and strong with a lot more skill than the Ritchie-Gauthier-Crouse line. Stephens and Konecny could probably be a duo with a skill guy like Jost/Benson on their left.

I like this group's variety more than this year's. 2017 will have some more size and physicality and the defence looks strong defensively.

Beauvillier - Barzal - Konecny
Dubois - Patrick - Gauthier
Benson - McLeod - Merkley
Roy - Stephens - Kolesar
Jost

Chychrun - Roy
Chabot - Juulsen
Lauzon - Meloche
Fabbro or Bean
