Strome for Eberle so I doubt that takes them out of the Duchene hunt.

Vegas ends up with yet another Penguins draft pick. This must be the one they dealt for Hainsey.

Maybe it's just me but I'm not that crazy about Eberle. Decent player but definitely not a star.

But I agree that they didn't give up much to get him, surprised Chiarelli didn't try a little harder to get a D

Sign Sheary for two years for less money. Then decide who to keep when Guentel and Sprong are off their ELCs. Send Maatta+ out for Duchene. Sounds like Vegas may be willing to move guys like Schlemko. I can't imagine he'll cost that much. And bring Hainsey back on a one or two year deal to rotate with Cole as a 4/5.

Trevor van Riemsdyk and a 7th round pick for a 2nd round pick

Sounds like Canes used our 2nd from the Hainsey deal to retool their Dline.

Knights have 3 picks in the top 15 and 6 in the top 60 I think. Not bad.

I don't think Eberle is that great but they seriously needed to get someone for Tavares. Okposo was only passable, then replaced with Ladd (at least that seemed like the plan). I think they improved today even with Eberle's questionable salary.

Seriously, if your plan to trade Maatta involves someone like Hainsey then don't ****ing trade him.

That is the best gif I've seen here since Ogrezilla introduced me to the wonders of the Macho Man

First off, Ruh probably isn't signing for less than $1M
Secondly, the only way I want Hainsey back is on two conditions

a) He's your 6/7 guy (not 4/5)
b) He signs for $1.5M or less

Do people really think Maatta was a better D-man this postseason than Hainsey? I'm not saying he's a stud, but we just won a Cup with him playing top pairing minutes. Split his minutes with Cole and I have no problem retaining his services.

Not a huge amount in it either way but you'd hope Maatta will get better and you'd bet on Hainsey getting worse.

Plus I'm guessing Hainsey will want a multi-year deal and that should be a really hard no.

Hand-Grenade-Hainsey made it work by playing solid defense, but he is the antithesis of what this team needs on the back end. The Hainsey for Letang swap was the reason we weren't winning the possession and shot quantity battle at all during the playoffs.

Well yeah. You're moving Maatta for a high end piece at a position we have no internal solutions for anytime soon unless Sundqvist takes a big step next season.

Hainsey's been pretty much the same limited player for most of his career. He's still suppressing shots at a top 4 level which is all you really need as a safety valve for Schultz. Or rotate Cole in there. I'd be playing Dumo/Letang 20-25 min. with the other two pairings splitting the rest at ES.
