The PP unit with Jokinen in it has stayed the same it seems. So Aho is only with them on even strength still:

Komarov - Barkov - Jokinen
Laine - Vatanen

Strange choice considering that Aho was in Jokinen's spot in WHCs with good success. He has a much better shot than Jokinen, too.

I'd prefer Aho over Jokinen, he was magic with Pulju on powerplay.

I bet 600 SEK on you beating U-23, you better not let me down!

As usual, Finland can hopefully reach amazing results with an inferior roster.:yo:

Well, Laine wasn't on the ice...

Well, as I said..that is the most likely reason...he wasn't on the ice during the 3vs3

On a serious note, is it really a good idea to hype up so much a 18 years old who still needs to develop both mentally and as a player? He was known for his issues as a junior. What happens if he gets frustrated the next couple of years in Winnipeg cause he is no near the expectations projected on him as the savior of finnish hockey.

I don't think he will have that problem. There are Puljujärvi, Barkov, Aho, Rantanen, Granlund, Donskoi that are just entering their peak and plenty other prospects coming out.

Not this again.....

Marjamäki had him sit against team USA in the last few minutes, no problem. There's been several occasions where he's shown to have great mentality but only one occasion in his mid-teens that apparently has to haunt him now.

People overblow these issues, i was a conflicted teen who got into a lot more hassle than Laine and that didn't come back to haunt me once i grew up..

Oh well, I think North America was the least suited opponent for us in this group. We can still make life very difficult for Sweden and Russia and just through sheer bloody mindedness sneak into semifinals...

But this game was rather grim: our puck control play does not work if we can't handle quick and forceful forecheck, and today we couldn't. At all.

In 5v5, Finland had 7 offensive zone starts in the entire game.

Yep.

Don't think Finland can win a game with Rinne in goal. He's nervous and makes the whole team a bit unsettled. Their D needs to move the puck more quickly, too.

Well, I think we'll see Rask next. And though Sweden will forecheck us hard, they won't do it quite as relentlessly as North America. I'm more worried about their amazing defence that is really lethal and so skillful and quick in feeding their forwards.

Yep.

We probably had 0 scoring chances in the 2nd period.

Sooo,
this defense doesn't belong to this tourney, there's 1 player who has the skill but the guy isn't getting any support. RR has to play with AHL Lindell/Lepistö against the best, not that great.

-Rinne was so, so, so bad that difficult to find words for his badness.
-2nd line was easily the worst line but thanks to that ....ng goal Marjamaki is probably happy with them, that line with Rinne killed us today.
-Kids line was a positive, they didn't get embarrassed, which for the rest of the team is pretty embarrassing.
-Marjamaki was brutal, that transition game, oh boy.

Rask should have been starting all along, Rinne is done. With that being said, Finland got killed by the young guns speed. There simply was no match to it and when Finland had lesser skill too, the ice tilted pretty radically as seen. Too soft, too slow, too bad execution on plays. Vatanen still hasn't played at his level and Ristolainen playd bad defensively today. Pretty much nothing worked today. I don't see how this team can muster out wins against Sweden and Russia.
