No one can understand Tulipunaruusu when the talks is about Pulju.

It's like the time when Esa Tikkanen was giving a fiery speech in the dressing room and someone turned to Jari Kurri and asked what he was saying and Kurri was like damn if he had any clue.

That as the third line would IMO be alright. Easy matchups and they should do fine.

The issue is that Finland doesn't have enough material to have 2 solid lines. Even the "incredible" Koivu-Granlund-Donskoi line is composed of one low to mid tier first liner and 2 low to mid tier second liners.

But well, Barkov's line is already the third line so

Barkov is kind of okay 3C.

Komarov on 3rd line could wake up Jokinen, he brings energy and can be trusted in every situation.
4th line without Haula would be painfully slow but he can keep up with anyone and the other 2 guys are trusted defensively.

3rd pairing scares me, that could be a killer, hopefully Maatta can calm down Vatanen.

I trust Lepisto the most after Ristolainen. He will be just fine. Vatanen and co. on the other hand..

I like this. All 3 first lines should now work better than they did before and that 4th line isn't that crucial and Lehterä should be able to function there just fine anyway.

I also like that Jokipakka got benched after directly causing 3 goals. Need to take some responsibility.

The only change I would make now is swap Granlund and maybe Lehtera. I just don't like Koivu and Granlund together. I noticed in a recent interview how Granlund sounded kind of unenthusiastic about playing with Koivu and actually pointed out they don't play that much together in Minnesota. But is this too hard set in stone?

Happy to see Marjamaki is capable of tinkering with the lines when needed. So I guess let's see how it goes.

Really wondering what's amiss with Teravainen. Hoping it's just a schedule issue, still recovering from a serious summer training regime, not some more mysterious longer term decline. Hoping, for sure...

^ TT has already won the Cup, so he can even retire without ever looking back if he feels like it and his motivation is lost, as it seems to be the case. Maybe floor ball next again. Too bad only for Finnish hockey if the dude has lost the fire for the game and won't reach his potential in athletic terms. But stranger things have happened. Seriously.

No they didn't until the end of the season but it is the plan for this season. As soon as Granlund was moved to Koivu wing in the playoffs Granlund played much better. Plus it ended up with goals like this.

Okay, fair enough, but I wonder if Granlund has some issue regarding the NT specifically. He sounded that way to me. Does he feel he's in Koivu's shadow, wants a more independent role in the team, or what? Just guessing, obviously. They haven't looked so hot together in these exhibition games.

(BTW, shucks, the clip is not available in Finland.)

Now I'm quite liking the thought of Lehtera with Koivu and Donskoi. Donskoi has a bit of Tarasenko in his play which Lehtera might mesh with, and Koivu has the physical play to round off the line. And I'd like to see Granlund with Haula, don't remember if they played together in Wild. Ah well, probably not happening.

It's a possibility of course, unfortunately. Then again, he did get selected in the team when young guns like Puljujarvi were left out. That gives some hope it's just a temporary dip?

Granlund doesn't want to play with Dad. He wants to hang out with the cool kids, Barkov and Laine.

I don't see why he would think that when he was Parise center for about two seasons and he couldn't Produce.

The clip was of Koivu tying the game 5 in Dallas and winning game 5 in Dallas were Granlund did a lot of work to help create those goals.

There's a reason why that line is the only one not being tinkered. It has been the most consistent line through 3 games offensively and defensively.

Actually not bad.

Strong thing from the coach to realize what most posters here did long ago.

That first line is awesome in so many ways.

Happy to see that Aho moved up from healthy scratch to 1st line winger over the course of two days. Par for the course given his history.

Is it weird that I miss Selänne, S. Koivu, Numminen and Timonen when I see our roster?

Hell, I even miss Olli Jokinen.

LOL, I remember Esa Tikkanen trash talking people on the ice constantly, but the other players said it didn't bother them at all because no one could understand him

I like these lines a lot. First line is super young (18-21-19) but has amazing potential. Elite sniper - two-way monster franchise C - young professor. Mmmmmm.

For some reason I would like to try the line Jokinen-Haula-Komarov. This gives a bit resemblance to Florida line Jokinen-Trochek-Smith where Jokinen fared really well. Haula is a bit lesser version of Trochek, but can make plays and has the speed. We roll 4 lines evenly anyways so talent can be spead on bottom 6. But Jok did get a goal on that third one too, but it was mostly on Ristolainen.

Laine-Barkov-Aho
Granlund-Koivu-Donskoi
Lehterä-Filppula-Korpikoski/Teräväinen
Jokinen-Haula-Komarov

too many changes atm. but other than that yeah, would be something

The PP unit with Jokinen in it has stayed the same it seems. So Aho is only with them on even strength still:

Komarov - Barkov - Jokinen
Laine - Vatanen
