Price will get the start, but I'm confident with all three goalies. I'd prefer Price start, though.

It'd be nice seeing Canada mix up the lines a little bit:

Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron
X-Toews-Giroux
Tavares-Thornton-Stamkos
X-Getzlaf-Perry

Fill in X with ROR, Duchene, and Couture - maybe Couture to Toews line because he shoots more and ROR to Getz-Perry as a Benn-lite or Duchene if they need more speed.

It keeps the top line together. It reunites Tavares-Stamkos who looked great together and adds a playmaker in Thornton. It give Toews a playmaker winger that should be more familiar with. It keeps the Getz-Perry dynamic.

I'm pretty disappointed that they are afraid to take players like Hall and Letang and Subban. This team is so stacked and fast, that any mistakes these players make should be easily recovered by a team with this much hockey IQ. Canada should not fear any other teams lineups, we have to respect them, but we should use an attack first mentality.

power play looks solid, I have no idea what are you all talking about. And it's exhibition. Let's wait for the actual tournament. They are not playing their best yet.

The only time I've heard Giroux's name is when he's been hit or serving a penalty. Can't say the same for Toews, that guy is MIA.

Toews will be once again used as a shutdown center who is expected to face the tough competition. The fact that he scored big goals in the 2010 and 2014 tournaments was a bonus.

Man, Giroux always getting hurt. Guy seems brittle nowadays

Giroux has missed nine NHL games due to injury in the past seven seasons.

Any particular reason you didn't post about Carter, Benn and Seguin being "brittle" when they had to be replaced due to injury?

Well to be fair giroux does seem to get hurt lots, just always in the offseason so he doesn't miss games.

It is one of the reasons he was not selected to play in sochi. He was injured for the summer mandatory camp.

If you can't find Toews, look in the other team's defensive end. He's spent the bulk of every 5v5 shift there against the other team's top line.

So missing a summer camp due to injury makes you more brittle than a guy like Benn who is missing the World Cup due to injury, has had offseason abdominal surgery two years in a row, and has missed more than twice as many NHL games as Giroux. Or Carter who has also missed more than twice as many NHL games as Giroux.

I'd do something like:

Marchand-Crosby-Bergeron
Duchene-Tavares-Stamkos
Couture-Toews-Giroux
O'Reilly/Thornton-Getzlaf-Perry

Why would management select Giroux knowing coach hates him. Choosing replacement players over PP specialist and top scorer in last 5 years seem insane.

If plan all along is to healthy scratch him, select a younger player and let G back to Flyers to prepare for season.

Not even dressing arguably the best goalie in the NHL is another head shaker all together.

Flyers camp doesn't start for another week, and it's highly likely he plays at least one game during the tournament.

ROR is in for his PK-abilities, which is fair enough. He looked good on Tuesday.

Have you never followed team Canada before? These are constant tough roster decisions the management staff have to make every single one of these tournaments. Giroux may be on the sidelines to start and he also may need to step-in at any point because of an injury or a line-up change (e.g., Duchene subbing in for Tavares at Sochi 2014), and in such a situation the coaches want the best player available.

anyone at least a bit surprised that holtby is scratched for crawford for the opener vs. czechs?
