BERLIN – Europe’s leading hockey clubs from 13 countries formally founded the Alliance of European Hockey Clubs E.H.C. at a meeting in Berlin, Germany on Monday, 13 June.

Between the initial meeting in Düsseldorf on 2 March 2016 and the official founding gathering at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin last Monday, 72 European had signed up as provisional members leading up to Monday’s historic founding. These 72 clubs became founding members of the E.H.C. Alliance.

The clubs approved the following the five long-term goal for the E.H.C.

1. Strive for direct representation and active participation in deciding bodies of the IIHF

2. Use unity and synergy effects for member clubs via centralized marketing efforts

3. Assist growing the pro game in aspiring leagues and new markets

4. Be an active partner on player transfer issues with North American leagues

5. Membership to grow to include 75% of clubs in the top-15 Euro leagues

Alliance of European Hockey Clubs - no KHL clubs, it is like European Club Association (soccer) would be without British/Spain etc top clubs.

Seems like a good amount of euro hockey fans just dont like the tournament. I almost wish I lived in the home town of a team playing in it, seems like a really cool thing to watch.

Vorky, do you have a source for this info?
If so, could you share a link or pm me with a means to get to it?

Briza is GM of Sparta Prague and CHL Board member. There are his words for czech websites hokej.cz and sport.cz

"Dává to LM velmi jasnou garanci financování, což nám ještě navíc umožní postupně až do roku 2023 zdvojnásobit odměny pro vítěze a samozřejmě pro všechny ostatní týmy, které se LM zúčastní," uvedl Bříza.

New long term deal with Infront gives clear financial guarantee to CHL which allow us to continually until 2023 double prize money for winner and of course all participating clubs, said Briza

I read at CHL website before 15/16 season, see

The total prize sum of EUR 1.5 million will not be changed for season II.

So, now have 1,5, wants double to have 3 that is how I understand it. One would think that CHL has more ambitions for future, but it seems they dont have.

If Briza wanted to say "double every season" he would say zdvojnásobovat, but he said zdvojnásobit

Cracovia !

soon in TAURON Arena Kraków.

I really hope Liberec and Sparta will both have strong runs. It's time for the Czech teams to step up a little.

Does anybody have info on how Euro hockey fans now feel about this tournament since the changes?
I feel it still needs the KHL but I am interested and will be watching. And it makes the national leagues more interesting since they all must Qualify.

Most don't care...yet. But it's for sure growing in the countries outside of Sweden/Finland. The KHL thing will likely never happen. It is what it is on that

Meaning the prize money will double every season from now on.

do roku 2023 zdvojnásobit odměny pro vítěze

"double the prize for the winner by 2023 year"

"do" means until, by, etc. in all eastern languages. You easily get to understand that vorky had it right even if his English wasn't the best (and excuse him if he won't talk like a motherlanguage, meh)

In any case, of course I'm more towards the KHL side, yet I think the CHL is a very interesting concept. Still I think that it would greatly improve and in turn generate more interest if they'll stop playing most of the round robin games between mid august and mid september and remove the horrid "two-leg" rounds for the playoffs...

Because some leagues have a regular season that is too long/congested (looking at you, Liiga), there is little room in the schedules to place the games.
