Yeah, I feel pretty safe in going on the record and saying that McDavid won't be there next year.

I'd be very surprised if Travis konecny was not on team Canada next year

Marner, D.Strome, Barzal, and Konecny would be my locks for Canada, it will be a strong team again

Sanheim - Fleury
Pilon - Mayo

If both Chartier and Merkley make the team they would most likely play together.

Jared Mccan is very likely to make this team because he has competed for canada multiple times at the U17 and U18 which is something they look for.

Brendan Lemieux would be interesting as well.......... But Ho-sang seriously needs to improve his attitude. he never says the right thing, when Domi wasn't invited last year he said all the right things, and when Ho-sang wasn't invited he said all the wrong things.

McDavid's gone. Bennett I would bet is gone. Not enough 19-year-olds IMO.

Virtanen, Point, Fabbri, Crouse and Hicketts will return as locks.

Dal Colle, Perlini, Bleackley, McCann, Quenneville, Lemieux, Watson, Ho-Sang, etc. will compete at forward as 19-year-olds. Strome, Marner, Konecny, Barzal and Merkley will compete as 18-year-olds and 17-year-old Tyler Benson may get an invite.

On defense, Sanheim, Fleury, McKeown, Peters, etc. will compete as 19-year-olds on D. Roy, Van Sompel as 18-year-olds and 17-year-old Sean Day may garner an invite.

I'm thinking:

Fabbri - Dal Colle - Virtanen
Perlini - Strome - Point
Lemieux - Bleackley - Quenneville
Watson - McCann - Ho-Sang
Marner

Sanheim - Fleury
Hicketts - McKeown
Peters - Roy
Van Sompel

MacDonald
??

I'm probably missing some names and centre doesn't appear to be a position of strength.

Fluery-Roy

My way too early educated guess:
Forwards:

Fabbri- Strome- Virtanen
Dal Colle- Barzal- Marner
Chartier- Merkley-Konecny
Crouse- McCann- Point
Perlini
Guys like Lemieux, Hawryluk, Ho-Sang(hopefully), Bleackley, Quenneville, etc. will all warrant condsideration. I'm predicting that McDavid and Bennett will be in the NHL.

Defense:
Sanheim Hicketts
Fleury McKeown
Vande Sompel Roy
Chychrun

Matt Spencer was considered as well.

Goalies:
Blackwood
McDonald.

Any glaring omissions or controversial selections??

I see Fabbri listed as a lock on pretty much everyone's rosters so far. Keep in mind though that he came VERY close to making the Blues out of camp this season so I wouldn't be surprised if he made it next season. He's a lock if he's in Jrs next season and even if he does make the Blues, they could decide to loan him for the WJC but I think there's a decent chance that he's a Blues regular a year from now. If he wouldn't have suffered an injury the 2nd to last preseason game reports are that he would've made the team.

I would assume Bennett will stay in the CHL unless he absolutely rips up the CHL when coming back from injury

Doubt very much McDavid is there next year, also Lazar probably won't be back. Barzal and Strome should be locks.

Lazar is not eligible next year. He's a 95. next year's tourney is for players born in 1996.
and yes, McDavid will be earning an NHL paychq next year and racking up points in an NHL rink near you.

If both Fabbri and Bennett are unavailable next year, then people shouldn't get their hopes up for a TC repeat. The 1996 group just doesn't have the depth of talent to overcome 3 top centers and a #1 stud d-man...

but with Tic-tac-Tao, they should contend for a medal.

Head Coach: Dale Hunter (if he's not coaching the Leafs)

Crouse on the second line? I see him like Gauthier, a good defensive player, he should be on the fourth.

We'll see, but I think he has more of an offensive upside than Gauthier. but for now I like his experience there...

I am eternally grateful for what the Hunter brothers have done for the London Knights and the city of London. That being said, I really don't think Dale Hunter is that great of a coach. Really more of a product of how great of a GM Mark Hunter was/is. I would go with Scott Walker, and get Keefe or Knoblauch on the staff to prep for a few years down the road.

Pretty much agree with your lineup otherwise, although I'd like to see Strome in the top 12. And I think Perlini has a real shot to be there as well. Konecny is on the bubble, but may have to wait for the following year. Same with Barzal.
