Russia
Denmark
Switzerland

QF match-ups on Friday:

Sweden, Czech Rep, USA and Canada for the QFs. USA and Canada plays in the final where Canada repeats and wins the tournament.

Russia is going to be a tough matchup for the Americans, then if they win likely Sweden in the semis. Tough road.

Cake walk to the finals for Canada.

Hopefully we get USA-Canada in the finals.

So Canada plays Denmark and then Czech/Slovakia, en route to the gold medal game. That's pretty much a bye to the finals unless a goaltender plays "Godly".

They should allow the Czech's and Slovaks to combine their teams, like old times when Canada would face a strong Czechoslovakia team.

Well atleast our boys wont be caught off guard if they make it to the final. An easy road there isn't always a good thing.

If the team with the easier route wins gold, it's because they were well-rested and the other team ran out of gas.

If the team with the more difficult route wins gold, it's because they were used to playing hard-fought games and took advantage of the other team's rust.

There's a cliched narrative regardless.

The only worry is who will be more prepared, games against weaker team will make Canada be forced to play a slower tempo, game against the US was extremely fast paced, whoever out of Sweden/US/Russia makes it to the final will be used to playing faced pace hockey and Canada might look flat. Of course we still have to beat the Czechs as this tournament is hard to predict, but they beat us last year if I remember correctly.

No, they didn't. But Czechs are a good team. I don't know if it was Russia not playing that well, but they played a tremendous 3rd period.
