For those pining for draftin a goalie in the 3rd and 7th and no sooner and quoting history using BlueBullets article, might I remind you of a little bit of Oilers history. In 2011 we drafted Samu Perhonen with the first pick in the 3rd round and Frans Tuohimaa in the 7th. How well that worked out for us.

I am not a proponent of drafting Samsonov in the first, but I want a top tiered goalie prospect like Blackwood and I would take him at 33. Even with Laurikainen, Nagelvoort and Broissoit, we don't have a goalie in our system under 20 unless you think Bouchard will be offered a contract!

Absolutely need to draft a high end goalie prospect and start grooming him, and I personally would shy away from the overagers and draft a good young guy.

Voted Svechnikov but there's 5 others you could also consider. I'm rolling with the big guy who can play which is exactly what Bob Green has said they are looking at.

Sure lets draft him and he will be ready in 5 years...

Exactly, the draft is about setting us up for the future. Let's get a really good goaltending prospect for the future.

If you plan on signing Niemi or getting a goaltender like Anderson with the 33rd pick, it would be nice to have a goaltender in the system. Having said that, I think it is a luxury we can't afford. That 16th pick has so much value and is probably our best shot at acquiring a top pairing defenceman.

Re Poll: There are so many good players around the 16th pick. From that list, I'd be happy with any of Merkley, Svechnikov, Konecny, Zboril or Samsonov (although I hope he slips to us at 33). A deep draft indeed!

That said, I'm still hoping we can somehow land Meier. He'd be such a good fit here.

Voted Roy. Also good with Svechnikov.

Why is everyone so fixated on taking a goalie this year? I have heard 2016 is a much better draft for goalies than 2015. Why not focus on skaters this draft? Is an 18yo goalie that big a priority for the organization this summer

Can you add Denis Guryanov to the poll? I take him at 16. Big, fast sniper with some skill. I see some Tarasenko like potential in him.

Have a feeling Crouse drops to us.

I can't imagine him dropping that far. If he drops that far it will probably take a lot to convince PC to trade the pick.

If we're going BPA with the puck and Crouse isn't here... I'd like Svechnikov. Big skilled left winger sounds great to me.

Would mind if we just picked the best d-man on the board as well. Didn't we pick Klefbom up with the 16th pick?

I went with White, just have a feeling he's going to be a riser. Started the year with mono and still put up good numbers. Feels like this years Larkin.

Voted Konecny, but I'd be happy with many of the names on that board. The kid's compete level is off the charts, he never gives up a chance to lay a hit (when it's there), has a heavy shot with a quick release. People might scoff at his size, but I'd rather take a guy who'll go to war every shift than a guy with size who only uses it half the time.

I see a Parise/Schwartz hybrid.

No Bittner love? I went with Evgeny Svechnikov. But really I just hope if we do use this pick at 16 we hit a home run with it!
