</p>Ever since Jarmo Kekalainen took the helm in 2013, the Columbus Blue Jackets have been pointed in a positive direction. Heading into the 2015 NHL Draft, the club had spent a number of selections on forwards, boasting an enviable group of high-caliber, quality scorers. The major question heading into the draft was what the team would do to bolster the blueline.

With Mike Reilly choosing to spurn Columbus in favor of the Minnesota Wild, there was a clear and distinct lack of defensemen in the system.… read more

Thanks!

Thanks so much for posting this. Very good summary of the 2015 draft picks for the CBJ. Definitely went defensive, and I think they got some good prospects. I am very excited about the forward from Portland Bittner. I think this kid could be the big power forward with an edge to his game. (Although I have read that he is more like Nash than like Bertuzzi) I will continue to hold out hope that we will get our big bruiser that skates over or through the defense to the net

Like the article said, it's gonna be a big season for Bittner. Same type of thing for Bjorkstrand. Every one thought his numbers were inflated because of his teammate, same thing could happen to Bittner this upcoming season with Bjorkstrand, Petan and I'm sure some other leaving it's a big opportunity for him to step up and be the man.

Good read, however, I would argue that the team was pointed in a positive direction after the trade of Rick Nash, before JK took the helm. JK's draft picks have yet to materialize (Wennberg showed alot at the end of last season though), but I agree they are promising group.

Already in top-30 at league standings. In good pursuit positions as the phrase in Finnish goes...

Sorry to be intruding in this thread, and hope I'm not breaking any HFBoard rules in doing so, since this is an OT post. But if any Blue Jackets fans are hanging around HFBoards tonight, we could use your "vote" on an expansion Realignment Draft thread on the Main Board. Columbus is making its selection now.

Cheers to all.

His first draft was literally the Wennberg/Rychel/Dano/Heatherington/Bjorkstrand class. Give me a break.
