Wow, awesome job, very comprehensive. I love getting a lot of the behind the scenes information. This will take some more time to digest. Thanks for this.

Fantastic summary Sheng. that was a lot of info!

Can't really blame Schultz for wanting another crack at the NHL. He's been a good soldier, and was certainly serviceable in a minor role. I just think the NHL game has passed him by as he can't make a breakout pass to save his life, just soft passes and glass-and-outs. I guess a team might want to take him on as a #6-#7 for his experience and steadyish defense, and I'm rooting for him as he's a likeable dude.

Really good stuff here Sheng. I think the players were pretty honest about their shortcomings. Ebert and Leslie need more playing time, particularly on the Power Play, which was below par it seemed to me.

I would like to see Bizz, Backman, Sutter and maybe Newbury back as far as the AHL'ers go. Maybe JST. I hope Schultz finds greener pastures elsewhere so a younger D core can get the experience.

What is this team going to do in Goal if Budaj gets the Kings gig? That is a gaping whole in the organization.

Quite a few candidates will be available as backup options or AHL starters, depending on how much the Kings want to spend at that position:

Chad Johnson
Ben Scrivens
Anton Khudobin
Alex Stalock
Carter Hutton
Jeff Zatkoff
Al Montoya
Justin Peters

I don't think they should spend much on a backup if they plan on playing Quick in 70+ games. The problem is that there is a general lack of depth in the organization when it comes to backup options. After Budaj there is nobody who is even AHL ready.

Thanks for reading & the kind words, guys!

Schultz absolutely is. Surprisingly insightful interview & seems genuinely nice. Clearly one of the most respected guys in the Reign locker room & for good reason.

As others have mentioned, the Kings goaltending pipeline will look way different by the fall. Personally, I'd guess Budaj has the inside track on the Kings backup position; for a team which will be up against the cap, that makes too much sense.

Sneaky good and friendly interview. He talks to you almost like he would be talking to a colleague. It's really easy to like Schultz no question.
