Providence played an exhibition game against Simon Fraser University tonight. It was the definition of a blowout. Providence destroyed them 9-1 and outshot them 56-14. Janko had a goal, an assist, 5 shots, went 13/18 on draws (72.22%) and was +2, sounds like he was robbed of a second assist but was on the ice for 7 of the 9 goals (5 of which were PP goals). On Janko's goal he also drew the penalty to get his team the man advantage. With Janko being the net presence on the PP I think it's safe to say despite not racking up a ton of points he was doing his job (teams rarely score without the screen).

Gilmour did not play as he was suspended for violating team rules.

I don't know if it's been posted, because I don't see about 80% of this thread. This past weekend Janko and Providence drubbed Simon Fraser 9-1.

Outshot them 47-13; Janko with a goal and an assist and went 13-5 on the faceoff circle.

What are expectations for Jankowski point wise?
It depends on how much the team scores. I want him to be involved in 30-35% of their goals. If the team scores as much as last year it would be 37-43 points, but if the team struggles offensively as a whole and reverts back to home much they scores in his rookie year it would be 31-37 points.

50+ are you ****ing kidding me? That would mean he'd be involved in at least 40% of their goals. That would be equivalent to asking Monahan to preferably get 95+ points

Well, if Monahan was expected to be a dominant force in this league, we would reasonably expect 95+ points. Jankowski should be a dominant force in the NCAA as a top prospect and a senior, so it's not that far-fetched.

Monahan, of course, is not expected to be elite at this point.

Why should Jankowski be expected to be a dominant force? Even as a junior he was still one the youngest guys. And 95+ points is more than being a dominant force, that would be being the best player in the league by a considerable margin. A dominant force would be top 10 in scoring which for Monahan would be around 75 points, which guess what? would be 31% of the teams goals

That's true. I guess people are hoping he's a true elite player in the league this year.

We all hope for that, but to EXPECT it is a little unfair. That is setting him up to be a disappointment, which to be completely honest I think certain people would enjoy.

40 at minimum, preferably 50+.

Yeah, that would be awesome. At this time in his college career, he should have a breakout year. No reason for him not to, unless we just have another AHL/NHL tweener on our hands.

Majority of the guys who dominate the NCAA in their senior years never end up being much at the NHL level. If folks are still hoping for Jankowski to be a relevant NHL'er, he needs to prove he can dominate a league.

Well, when Monahan was in on 38% of the 67s goals in his draft year.

Also, if Jankowski got more points, the entire team would likely have more points as a result, so it wouldn't necessarily mean he'd be involved in at least 40% of their goals. And I did say "ideally". ;) Like I said, minimum expectation is point-per-game, and that's not at all unreasonable if we expect him to be a solid NHLer at some point.

Well, when Monahan was in on 38% of the 67s goals in his draft year...

Also, if Jankowski got more points, the entire team would likely have more points as a result, so it wouldn't necessarily mean he'd be involved in at least 40% of their goals. But it's entirely reasonable to expect a kid who everyone thinks is projected as a "top 9 forward" to be in on a substantial percentage of his team's offense as a senior in a developmental league.
a couple things. 1) the 67s were a 1 player team, they were beyond terrible in every aspect. The Friars coach always rolls 4 lines. 2) No it is not reasonable, hope for it sure but expecting greatness is completely unreasonable. 3) NCAA success =/= NHL success, sure the best players are more likely to succeed but if he doesn't post godly numbers on a defensive team that rolls 4 lines it is not a reason to write him off.
