Handzus? lol no.

Big body who's good in front of the net. Veteran presence. Probably not going to sign a longer deal than one-year. Great stop gap for a few of our guys like Kristo, Miller, etc... to keep getting the experience they need in the minors.

Would rather sign a Right handed shot to fill that slot vacated by Pouliot so we have another option outside Stepan on the PP, but Handzus fits a bill this team could use.

The biggest problem with the roster I posted is the D. Not Handzus.

A big body who can't skate, doesn't produce and is a center, not a winger. He managed to not produce while playing regular shifts with Kane. He is not a top-9 player at this point.

Now I remember why I don't get into arguments with people on HF anymore. Such attack mentality. Relax, baby. I get you hate Handzus. Like I said, it's not ideal. But if everyone here is so hell bent on adding ROR, we're going to have to take some other hits around the roster to make sure the cap works. Especially if we're going to keep all of our RFAs.

Very rough, but something that's plausible?

That defense is TRASH, but the top-9 is great. Can replace Fast on the fourth-line with any rookie we have, or another cheap vet. Also doesn't account for an extra forward or D. Matt Greene gets a paycut from what he currently earns. I think all other contracts are somewhat accurate.

EDIT - Forgot to swap G's and McD's sides. Deal with it :p:

I would move Fast before I move Miller (call me crazy)

Yeah, I "hate" Handzus for pointing out that he'd be a horrible signing.

Well then put him on the roster over Fast :P

I like his size, speed and faceoff ability.

Fast's defensive awareness >>> Miller's defensive awareness. That's why he makes the cut over Miller for me. Not to mention Miller really shouldn't be up on this team unless he's playing center. I do however completely understand why they put him at wing when they do call him up :)

Sorry, when I said you hate Handzus, I implied the idea of you hating signing Handzus, not that you had a personal vendetta against him. I should have typed that out, my bad.

Can someone work with Miller on his defense? He has so much upside offensively.

Handzus has 2 cups in 4 years. Kesler made a SCF final game 7. Thornton has lost in the first round 7 times. Good idea

Handzus has one cup. And how does him having a cup change the fact that he is 37, on his last legs, and barely a fourth liner?

And LOL at Kesler having championship pedigree because he lost in the cup finals. jesus. That's about as much of a championship pedigree as Thornton has.

Sorry if I came off like a dick, but I just don't see how Handzus is a fit at all. I saw plenty of him in Chicago this year, and he is just a big lump of slow and old out there. Still a very good PKer, but that's about it. he's definitely no net front presence at this point.

What does everyone think about David booth? About to be bought out by Vancouver. Could replace pouliot if he leaves. Booth struggled in Vancouver but played well in Florida. Great speed and good size. Possible good 3rd line option

Nah, man, you're good. No worries. It's the internet

I lean towards Handzus because I like the idea of having another veteran on the squad. I like the idea of Handzus because he'll sign a one-year deal. We need stop gaps for our younger guys who I don't think are ready to take that next step.

I said from the beginning I'm really not in love with that roster, at all. I am fully on board the ROR bandwagon, and I understand that with that and the RFA re-signs we're going to be in trouble in some parts of the roster. I'd rather go with the veteran Handzus on that line than an unproven young kid like Fast, or Miller.

And ultimately, I always think predicting rosters (while fun) is the biggest waste of time in the world  Every time you think you know one thing, Sather does the other thing. Hell, for all we know Duclair could make that third-line this coming year ;)

Boyle is going to free-agency. He's not coming back here.

[QUOTE**Center Brian Boyle expressed that he would like to play a bigger role next season and will be seeking that opportunity as an unrestricted free agent after being told by Vigneault today that if he were to return he would remain in the same role as a fourth line player and a penalty killer]

On the other hand, Dom Moore has never earned more than $1.2 million/yr and has proven over and over that he's a solid, versatile player . I'd be very surprised if he doesn't re-sign here for a very reasonable amount (and several years).

http://blogs.northjersey.com/blogs/...e_yet_boyle_looking_for_bigger_role_as_a_ufa/[/QUOTE]

sorry to hear it.
We could do a lot worse than giving Boyle mo $$, and a bigger role.
Happy Dom Mo likely back.
