It does in this case.

Unless you think stockpiling young forwards that might be able to fill the 3rd line center spot is on the same plane as stockpiling players the caliber of Getzlaf/Malkin. Your response was an absurd non-sequitur.

Why dont you get a GM on the horn and start comparing JT Miller to Malkin - see if you could get a word in edge wise before they hang up on you.

Well I never compared JT and Malkin.

Call a GM and:

1) Tell them that you don't think that JT Miller has much value
and
2) Tell them that you think this statement is based on the fact that plenty of teams have 21 y/o's that are good at hockey.

That's what you're arguing. I'm arguing that you're a) being silly and b) are flawed with your logic.

Does anyone see Volchenkov as a potential Stralman replacement?

He'd probably come cheap.. but I know his play has slipped a bit. Not an offensive guy, but he's probably on the bottom of the barrel type of guys who I would want to go replace Anton.

11:48AM: Tom Gulitti’s sense is that the Rangers wanted to see where things were with Fayne as a back up to either Anton Stralman or Dan Boyle. (Gulitti)

I'd monitor this Josh Gorges situation.

3.9 cap hit. 29 y/o. Wants out of Montreal and they're willing to throw him on waivers.

Could be gotten for cheap. Could eat a lot of minutes.

I don't think he wants out of Montreal, I think they want him gone. He refused to waive his NTC to go to Toronto.

..which is a pretty great attribute to have.

You can teach defensive positioning, stick-work. You can practice breakout passes. You can attempt to play more physical.

You can't teach a player how to skate like that at this level.

he has a very good shot too. at 6'3 he gets alot behind it. as he showed in the playoffs, he can play the point and fire away at will. he tees it up quickly and fires it willingly. hits the net alot too.

he never looks like the doofus del zotto became when we went man up. even girardi is brutal on the pp. and even going back further, how bout rozy and his blue line clown act. that guy just plain refused to shoot it ever even though he had a very good shot.

as a 3rd pair guy with klein, im not worried at all about that pair.

give moore more  pp time next season and 5-10 goals is not out of the question with his low hard accurate slapper.

Which would be stupid. 3 years x 1.5 mil is fair for one of the best 4th liners in the league, and a center to boot.

Of all the non-moves Sather has made thus far, this is the one I shake my head at the most.

I'm being patient with everyone else, knowing that one move changes a good portion of any future moves.

But to me Moore brings what we need, especially down the middle. He's versatile and can win faceoffs, and was apparently good in the locker room.

Sather is going to do what he does, pinch here are then spend wildly there, but I do wish this one was put to bed.

when rick nash makes what he makes and essentially plays dom moore for most of the playoffs, i find it ironic (and painful) that the real dom moore may not be resigned for basically peanuts.

if theres ever a guy who deserves a deal its dom. hes a terrific, smart 4th line player and an overall great asset to the entire team.

As a 3rd pair guy, I don't mind Moore. However, I'm not one of the people who believe he's going to ever improve all that much from what he is right now. I just haven't seen enough flashes of defensive competency to think he's ever going to be a top 4 guy. He actually reminds me of a stronger version of Matt Gilroy, albeit with less idiotic pinches.

Moore is a guy with alot of tools, but I don't think he has the hockey IQ to ever be much more than he is right now.

Thought I saw 3 years for $1.65-1.8MM. I like Moore, but that seems to get up there in terms of years and amount for your fourth line centerman, given the current state of the roster.

I agree, for me, it is most exciting when I see Moore have one of his good games. He skates well, joins the rush and gets back in time to break up plays. He plays that rover style that will make him successful. If he can do that consistently, the Rangers will have a very dangerous weapon. It's just a matter of him feeling comfortable enough to do it consistently. It will come.

$3.9 million for 4 seasons for a player that has a lot of tough minutes under him.

Eh, they re-signed Girardi who plays a similar game. I like Gorges. It's a reasonable contract too, although he provides '0' offense

so if we lose Boyle and Moore.. someone mind tellling me who's going to win face offs or us?

I agree. Should be re-signed.

Miller should be an improvement over Richards. In his limited sample size he was over 50%. Richards was under 50%.

I still expect one of Moore/Boyle to be back. Lindberg on their wing. Lindberg, by all accounts, is above average in face-offs, too.

Dom needs to be resigned. He's the ideal 4th line center. He kills penalties, wins faceoffs, and can pot one every now and again.

KEEP HIM

And I wouldn't rule out Ehrhoff now that he's been bought out. I bet he'd come cheap, and a decent replacement for Stralman, if he leaves.
