Who else would be giving up to get Shattenkirk? And how on Earth is this a legit rumor?

I'd definitely say Stralman is a better D than Shattenkirk.

We could certainly use Shattenkirk, though. He's an offensive righty D.

Shattenkirk would be an unreal acquisition.

I love Stralman, but I'd gladly make that switch.

But who do we give up?

A move for Shattenkirk would be great and his price tag of 4.25 is a great deal especially when Stralman is probably getting more than that!

The pice tag of Miller+ sounds interesting, and I found something else unique if you watch either part two or three of that Jim Cerny talk with Gordon and Clark for the draft they were asked about who in Hartford is ready he lists, Bourque, Allen, McIlrath, Kristo, Fast, and Lindberg. Not a single word about J.T Miller. Maybe a lil hint that Miller isn't apart of the big picture???

Shattenkirk would be big, but then we'd lose our planned 3C in Miller, unless the org. is confident Lindberg can step up (barring some kind of FA fail-safe.

Kreider - Step - MSL
Nash - Brass - Zuccs
Hags - Lindberg - Fast
Santorelli - Moore - Carcillo
Inexpensive UFA

McD - Girardi
Staal - Shattenkirk
Moore - Klein
Diaz

It would work assuming my numbers are accurate, giving us $1 mil in cap space. Nash would replace Pouliot on the Brass-Zuccs line, hopefully making them more competitive as a unit.

The third line is a stretch, I admit. Hags plays a 2-way game, and it creates the super-Swede line. It would absolutely be a work in progress, but it could be worse, right?

Third line C could also be a Mueller/Goc type.

Blues looking for offense. They can afford to give up a Dman because of Hitchcock's dead puck era system he has them playing.

Yeah, I know. I just got excited when I heard it and rushed to post:laugh:

Rumor is the Rangers are working on a deal with STL where they get Shattenkirk. Miller one of the pieces going back.

Seriously if they trade Miller for Shattenkirk, ****ing this organization, seriously.

Eh, I love Miller, but Shattenkirk definitely fills a huge need for us. Would be a good fit with Staal.

And I'm not even a huge fan of his.

Wait you'd be mad? Miller looks horrible at the NHL level. Shatty is a RD with an offensive game

McD-Shatty
Staal-G
Moore-Klein

Would be ****ing great. Only thing that scares me would be the plus from our side. Don't want to lose a key roster player.

If we are going to go with unproven, questionable if ready, with not much if any size prospects, then I'd love to see what Anthony Duclair can do with that ridiculous speed and slick hands.

Fast didn't blow me away, Kristo doesn't blow me away either.

Kreider, Hagelin, Duclair would be insane speed on the LW.

No

Stralman> everyone else in the NHL

At hip checks.

Otherwise, no.

Don't forget to add the swedish flag to your profile when making that post.

Shattenkirk's P/60 and PP production is only thing impressive about him imo. He has never in his career been tasked in a shutdown role in his career and this year Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo have especially handled the minutes at ES. He isn't a tough minute NHL defender, at least not yet IMO.

Make that trade off between Stralman and Shattenkirk and the team gets significantly worse at ES. I'm not a fan of that.

Although if they trade Klein and sign Gilbert/Fayne to a long term deal, I could go with it.

Shattenkirk would play with Staal and McDonagh would play with Girardi.

Not trying to pass it off as a legit rumor by hf standards (approved source or whatever), but I did hear it from a source with some actual connections and whom I have never known to give false information. Take it for what it is.

I'm hoping it's correct since I'd love him here.

Shattenkirk is from New Rochelle I believe so there is a connection there with wanting to play close to home.

What about something like.

Miller
Kristo/Fast
Skjei

For

Shattenkirk

Miller does not look horrible.

Explain please.

Staal/Shattenkirk is a down grade from Staal/Stralman and I'm not convinced the gain offensively is going to make up for it, plus Miller is their best prospect right now. That might not be saying that much, but when you have only 1 center under contract, and one looking for a raise as an RFA, it kind of is.
