Yeah, I know. I just got excited when I heard it and rushed to post:laugh:

Rumor is the Rangers are working on a deal with STL where they get Shattenkirk. Miller one of the pieces going back.

We would have to be sending A LOT more back with Miller to make that happen. I cant see St Louis moving him, but it would certainly be a hell of a move.

I heard some chatter about Sather inquiring about Shattenkirk last week as well but I thought I too good to be true.

Can't figure out what STL would want from us though...

Yeah both of those names are certainly too good to be true. Don't see it happening whatsoever. But this is all speculation, so all we can do is wait and see during the next week or so.

The move opens the door for impending free agent Daniel Carcillo, who had split much of the second half of the season with Dorsett as the fourth-line enforcer on the right side, to return to the Blueshirts. Carcillo is likely to sign a deal in the $750-800,000 range, thus saving $800-900,000 in cap space.

The Rangers have just over $24 million of cap space with which to complete a roster that currently contains two goaltenders, four defensemen, two centers (including J.T. Miller) and three wingers.

The Blueshirts seem resigned to the fact Anton Stralman, Benoit Pouliot and Brian Boyle will attract better offers on the market than management is either willing or able to extend to their own unrestricted free agents. Dominic Moore’s future on Broadway seems iffy as well.

Nevertheless, though the Blueshirts can most certainly use the pick, general manager Glen Sather’s primary motivation was to clear some space heading into free agency. Clubs can exceed the cap limit by 10-percent over the summer and through training camp but the Rangers are aiming to stay within the lines.

The Rangers haven't had much contact with their own group IIIs. The Rangers know the numbers and aren't even wasting their time.

They can't let everyone walk. That's ridiculous.

They won't but they are going to go shopping themselves if others get too much .

Boyle can go. He's hoing to get prust money. He's a 4th liner here

Pouliott can easily start sucking again. 3 yrs is a gamble

Moore I think resigns

I agree carcillo resigns

Pouliot sucking is a fabrication of this message board.

How would we be able to get Shattenkirk and Van Riemsdyk?

I don't think we have the pieces to pull off one, not to mention both.

If Sather pulls that off, we have the best top four in the NHL. Arguably, of course.
