Really? Who is that much better? I think Boston has peaked. I think TB is on the rise.

I just don't see them being able to beat 2 out of Boston/Montreal/Detroit consistently. I'm not as down on Boston as others, and I think Montreal has made some shrewd moves in the past few years, so I don't think this year was a fluke for them.

Personally I don't believe in their defense and while I think Bishop is easily the best goalie they've had since Khabby, I don't think he replicates what he did this year for them.

Also, looking at what they have on the books, I can't see how they bring in any significant difference makers. Obviously they have a nice pipeline of players, but I still think they lack that premier 1D (or perhaps 2 depending on what you think of Hedman) to deal with the other top heavy Eastern teams.

I heard that too. Very responsible player who has the speed and tenacity to make a difference. 4LW? He's like a gnat on the ice with a never-ending motor.

I'm not sold on him, but he's an energetic guy who's skill set would be a plus in the NHL if it could translate effectively from AHL to NHL.

He did take a big step forward this year. I just don't put much stock into his NHL value.

This is what we need, though. We need guys from within to step up and assume a role unexpectedly and effectively. I would love if he made the team as a 4th Line LW/PKer if he was ready to handle the rolling of 4 lines. Some guys take longer to develop than others. Still, 5'9 178 isn't very enticing, although that's a pretty heavy 5'9

I would be surprised if he was 5'9

No...what I heard actually came from Philadelphia, not Phoenix. Everyone here knows Coyotes are shopping Yandle but price is prohibitive. It's a deal Maloney feels like he has to win. I just think it may be time.

I think that if they don't think they can keep him, it's time to move on. Gormley, Murphy and OEL are the future there. Time to get moving in that direction. Especially if they buy out Ribeiro.

My bad.

I thought I saw Rene and not Ryan

VAN trades 3rd round pick acquired in Kesler deal to NYR for Derek Dorsett. So add Dorsett to VAN's return on Kesler.

For the Coyotes, eating $11MM in salary would be a financial disaster.

Man do I feel sorry for Maloney. As Ranger fans we are so spoiled at the notion of pretty much unlimited funds. It's bad enough Phoenix has strict budget limitations, there is absolutely no room for error. Doesn't take away the responsibility for signing Riberio who has a reputation as a floater, but that's some tightrope Don Maloney is on.

Maybe if Colorado loses Statsny, maybe they would entertain a swap for Parenteau. At least the Coyotes would get a warm body back instead of a huge financial hole on top of their already not so stellar situation.

so a less talented Zuccarello? I'll take that any day

Ribeiro is kind of a d-bag so I'm not surprised about the behavioral issues. Probably a distraction this team doesn't need.

It should be noted that TB has seen a lot of Garrison as he played in Florida for a while. They must know what they are getting

Not the most fleet of foot skaters. Basically his lack of 4-way mobility prevents him from eating shutdown minutes against top forwards. Sheldon Souray of the 2010s with less ice time.

Another center on the market. Wow, something must have been pretty bad for a small market team to eat that

His play.

He put up fewer points in 80 games than he did in 48 last year... From a PPG player to a .58 PPG player at 5.5m a year?

Don't forget his attitude is garbage.

Wouldn't touch him with a 1000' pole.

Great move RT @ArizonaCoyotes: #Coyotes have initiated a buyout of the remaining three years of center Mike Ribeiro's contract. (more)
