Vancouver Canucks ‏@VanCanucks 3m
#Canucks acquire 50th overall pick from Tampa Bay for Jason Garrison, the rights to Jeff Costello and Van's 7th round pick in 2015.

Full sell mode for the Canucks, that's an awful package though, no?

If the cap is set at 68 mill, as Bobbop predicted, I'd assume there will be a high level of activity tonight by some teams to get more cap flexibility.

Well my one Coyotes fan friend told me that Tippett didn't put him in a position to succeed, and he's usually pretty on point. Was he really awful enough to warrant a demotion?

That's just not true. Tippett tried everything. He played with every forward at one time or another. He had a ton of power play time. Yes, he was awful. He looked disinterested on the ice not just at times, but most of the time.

The first 30 games he was fine. Then it seemed like something happened. From there on, all downhill. If you were watching a game and didn't know who he was, you would have sworn he was a minor league player.

I've been an STH here for 7 years and he is the first player the fans have ever consistently booed.

I don't know about awful. Underwhelming. Perhaps GM's might have less leverage in selling players tonight, with the looming possibility of the cap being lower, and an onslaught of players being shopped tonight for lower bargain prices.

I'll take your word for it then. I didn't see much of the Coyotes in the second half compared to the first half, so I guess I saw Ribeiro at the top of his game before he tumbled downhill.

Hey Bob have you been hearing anything new on Yandle?

If Staal could be traded straight up for Edler that'd be great. Solid possession numbers on a team with a relatively low Corsi%, and the ability to put up some points himself.

He was also a poor 5 on 5 player for Washington before that. Again, not someone you want to rely on for anything other than power play production and I don't think AV wants to carry a player who's strictly a specialist

TBL have made some really solid moves in the last year or two, but for me, they're still not getting out of that division come the playoffs.

Really? Who is that much better? I think Boston has peaked. I think TB is on the rise.

I don't want to read too much into this, but Gorton seemed pretty excited about Ryan Bourque

I heard that too. Very responsible player who has the speed and tenacity to make a difference. 4LW? He's like a gnat on the ice with a never-ending motor.

Just spit chocolate milk all over my keyboard for the second time this week. Staal straight up for Edler is atrocious

Carle, Hedman, Brewer, Garrison, Gudas, Sustr/Aulie

Not the most mobile group

Stamkos, Callahan Filpulla, Purcell, Drouin, Johnson, Killorn, Palat plus young players like Namestnikov, Kucherov and Connolly waiting in the wings. I think they will score goals.

I think losing St. Louis looms kind of large for them offensively. They looked relatively lost w/ Cally in the playoffs.

I'm not sold on him, but he's an energetic guy who's skill set would be a plus in the NHL if it could translate effectively from AHL to NHL.

He did take a big step forward this year. I just don't put much stock into his NHL value.

I think that team was lost in the playoffs without Bishop so they tried to change their game and it didn't work. Very young team up front. They have great center ice depth. Stamkos, Filpulla, Drouin, Johnson.

Boston is getting older. Montreal is still not as good as I think they performed this year. Detroit with a tweak or two could conceivably be a force in that division, along w/ TB.

Stamkos/Drouin could be a real tandem, I won't deny it.

No it's not.

Teams are not going to do Vancouver any favors. It's obvious Vancouver wants to shed some contracts and salary, and they're going to have to take less than face value on some of these players just to entice another team to take on their problems.
