Definitely not, I wouldn't go over 4.5M AAV, but I don't get why it's either "if Stralman leaves we're 30th next season" or "Stralman can be replaced by any bum". There's a middle ground. He's been very good for the Rangers and we should strive to keep him imo, if the price is right.

I definitely agree there is a middle ground.. one of the few times I've seen that anywhere from Ranger fans.. either he's highly overrated, or highly underrated.

One would hope a defensemen would look solid when used like this:

This post makes me happy.

In the playoffs:

Kevin Klein Quality of Competition - 27.4%
Anton Stralman Quality of Competition - 29.3%

Not necessarily the biggest disparity, wouldn't you say?

One of these players played with Marc Staal. The other played with John Moore or Raffy Diaz.

Klein is as good, or just marginally worse than Stralman.

*puts up shield*

thank you for the stats...

If Stralman is better.. He's not 2M better that's for sure. Klein is making 2.9 signed for 4 more years.. Stralman is looking likely to get at least 4.5

When you look at the ****ing stats, that is a RIDICULOUS number for Stralman... Klein is set to make $1.1M LESS than him and yet they are nearly the same player

2% is a massive disparity in QoC. Notice how some players are all the way to the left, and some are all the way to the right? That's because the % of defensive zone starts Stralman (39.5%) got is, literally, double what Klein got (21.7%). Klein and J. Moore were completely spoon fed the easiest possible match ups by AV.

Klein is nearly the same player as Stralman in the same sense that Brassard is nearly the same player as Malkin. They are both male humans and they play the same position in the NHL. Any serious analysis shows them diverging markedly after that point. Concluding otherwise indicates that you are not actually looking at the stats.

I am really thinking that Lindberg is the better overall center than Miller and should be tried at that 3c spot. Better on face-offs. Better defensively. I think he has some very underrated hockey IQ and skill as well.

Even if adding more offense?... because despite the SCF run last year, again, that's what did us in... lack of offense and finishing.

And what got us there was defense and goaltending. If we are adding more offense at the expense of defense, how does that make us better overall?

Staal + Conditonal 1st '16 (if he doesn't re-sign) for E. Kane

Lindberg wins the 3c spot. Face-offs, defensive prowess PKing ability. Very solid player.

Sign Stralman @ 4.4 for 6 years.
Sign D Moore 3 years @ 1.75 million

AGAIN, the quality of Klein's PARTNER is garbage... Not saying Staal carried Stralman this year, but I'd love to see the stats if Stralman was paired with John Moore all year.

The stats say Stralman boosted Staal, not the other way around. The stats hate Klein regardless of his partner.

Since you asked, this is what happens to each teammate's possession numbers when on the ice with Stralman:

Have a look at this chart, which Shows Klein getting nearly the same offensive starts, which a slight decrease in performance...

with his partner, HAL GILL, later replaced by Roman Josi, whom I must admit I don't know much about. Beyond that, it should be spelledout for you, no?

Yes! Yes! Yes!, where do I sign?

Posting logical arguments will get you nowhere on here.

Stralman is our best defender. We owe it to him to pay him whatever he wants, regardless of what he actually brings to the table - which Klein does, and for near half the price.

The big issue with the Rangers D after letting Stralman walk is 3RD, not 2RD. Which of course is a domino effect of losing Stralman, but Klein is 2RD capable.

Klein doesn't bring half of what Stralman does.

Trade Klein.
