I, for one, like that he got a puppy. People don’t normally get puppies when they expect to drag them halfway across the world at some point, Igor getting comfortable in America. I think a part of it is that he knows he’s good enough, and one day his chance will come no doubt about it.
Exactly. Shesterkin is playing great in the AHL.

Hank and Georgie really haven’t been that bad, despite some rough games. Neither one has been the reason we aren’t a good team. I’m in no rush at all to throw Shesterkin into the dumpster fire that is our defense

why not keep Georgiev? Having two young goalies is terrific
It's not that people want to trade Georgiev, it's just that for many of us there has been some hesitation, that we wanted to see Shesterkin succeed in the NHL before we were ready to give up Georgiev. Shesterkin is quickly making it easier to be comfortable with him as your go-to.

I'd still like to keep them both, but sooner rather than later you'll have to pay them, and you don't want to pay two goalies. And that's ignoring next year with Lundqvist.

that wasn't my point...the ideal scenario is to still have both of them as a tandem for the next couple years. but we might end up dealing georgiev especially if we can get a great return. a month ago before igor had played a game in the nhl I felt it was nuts to be in a rush to trade georgiev who had proven to be pretty good in the nhl. but what igor has shown combined with his play in the AHL & KHL, its basically a given that he is your #1 goalie start next year. so the question on georgiev is simply whether you'd get more for him now or in a couple years.

More than that, they both want and deserve the chance to be "the guy" for a team.

I highly doubt Georgie would be happy wasting his 24-27-year-old seasons riding the pine 3 out of every 4 games (never mind what it'd do to his earning power) because the Rangers want to "have a good backup".

Ok man relax lol

We need to cut down on how many starts he gets...embrace the other 2 goalies. I'm still in tank mode
Next year is when Igor is the starter
My opinion is that, right or wrong, it’s not the Rangers MO to artificially tilt the ice. They will play Igor because he has earned it, and let the chips fall where they may, so to speak.

the hockey gods showed their approval last year when we continued to try to win down to the final buzzer...the team on the ice never quit

Yep. Same idea. It may not always be prudent but if it’s really the case, it think it’s an admirable approach and likely appreciated around the league. They made a bit of a nightmare by bringing up Igor and not sending down Alex but in the end those guys both deserve to be up. Life can be a bit messy sometimes. They’ll all survive.

I wouldn't intentionally tank. But I wouldn't be playing him every game remaining either or even the Lions share. Let's say the rangers trade georgiev today. With 28 games left is play shesty 15 and Henrik 13.
