Real cheap deals for Ribiero and Roy. I would of took a chance on one actually. Good moves for the Preds

Same here. This fanbase is always looking for the big splash not rooted in reality.

Cheap flyers like this may be the better alternative headed into this season

Preds making a nice little push here for their offense. If all works out in the locker room, those could end up being some great adds for a small-market team on cheap deals.

Well done.

Brian Boyle (general curiosity on my part here, not trying to incite anything...) What's it say about a guy like Roy who went the season with negative relative Corsi and Fenwick numbers (though both were over 50%) to score at the rate that he does?

2.17 points/60
0.1 GD/60 (I wanted to call it even, but figured I'd portray the stats as they lie :) )

Is it because his relative % numbers were negative just because how good the Blues were possession wise considering both his Corsi and Fenwick were over 50%? I guess it would be more out of the ordinary to find a guy whose possession numbers are relative negative, under 50, and who not only scores at that rate, but has an even or positive GD/60?

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, I'm just generally curious/trying to learn/have a lot of downtime at work so far today

Rich Clune of the Preds had a lot of substance abuse issues when he was younger.

Maybe they feel he can help Ribeiro?

Gotta think Nashville knows what they're doing here.

I'd be worried that the opposite path may take place if I were them.

Sounds like the same stuff az said they were thinking when they signed Ribs. Didn't work out.

Didn't want him for this team. Still don't. Not a big deal.

Not bad signings by Preds.. Love Ribiero more than Roy for them. I wonder what the Rangers management is going to do now.. Not a lot left out there.

The Rangers now have the worst center depth in the league

The FO seems confident going into the season with Stepan - Brassard - Miller/Lindberg - Moore down the line. I do not share that confidence.

Curious to see what sort of return Sather and co. scouring the trade market might be able to bring. I'd suspect they're looking for a 2/3LW considering all the talk about hoping Miller can take a big step this year. Would love for them to explore 2/3C instead.

Still a few guys out there that can be brought in on PTOs if all stays status quo...

Unless there's some mind tricks being done, the Rangers really don't have the assets or cap space to **** around with a trade that will really help us.

I'm sure they aren't thrilled about their center depth either. But it's the reality of the situation.

It's bottom 3rd for sure.

Not arguing that.

I am the exception to this rule here.

One sucks, the other is overrated.

Pains me to say, but I don't think Sather sucks. He's done an average to above average job since the lockout. We could certainly use better, but there have been far worse than him come and go since '05. Also hard to completely ignore what he did before the lockout considering how awful it was, but starting in the 03-04 season he got this team on track a bit. Throw in some luck by being handed a future HHoF goalie, and boom. Playoff appearances, SCF and ECF appearances will follow. In a nutshell? We could be far worse off than we are.

On the other hand, I completely agree that Gorton gets overrated around here. It's hard to say what he specifically does in the FO since none of us are there, but if the Rangers make a good move it's usually followed by "Wow, Gorton is really making his mark in the Rangers FO". Oh well. Such is life.

Definitely true. As we all know, the cap coming in at $69m was a real hamper to this team's off-season.

Both players are better than Pouliot.

Preds just added 75-85 points for just a tad over 2 million.

combined for 84 points last season.

combined for 77 points in 48 games the year before

combined for 107 points in 2011-12

this is the production the preds COULD get for what Brian Boyle got from Tampa.

And yes, I would take that production WITH the headaches that Ribs will provide.

And our friends in Pittsburgh, with the best 1-2 center punch in the league, would probably kill for the Rangers defense and goaltending.

Thats how it goes...

Though in my belief they are a bit low on the totem pole of important pieces to building a perennial winner, I'm sure some teams would kill for our RW depth as well.

Nash
MSL
Zuccarello

Is nothing to be ashamed about.

Kreider - Stepan
Hagelin - Brassard
______ - Miller

Those are issues, pending who fills in that blank.

and yet in the end, a team with better center depth skated off with a cup while we watched.

you are correct though. That is how it goes.
