Very Very interested in Ribeiro.

In his career he's a steady 19/43/62 guy, and those numbers are dragged down a bit by his numbers early in his career, just looking at
2007-2013

428 GP 118 G 279 A 397 P

That's 23/53/76

You wonder what a lefty like him could do with a guy like Nash.

Talk to me about his attitude all you want, this is a perfect buy low kinda guy.

I've heard about guys attitudes a bunch of times, but it's not a big deal with a room full of leaders like MSL, and again, if he sucks, at a 1-2 mil contract you can dump him easy. send him to the minors, bubble wrap him and send him home, etc.

Power Play specialist too.

Setoguchi and Stempniak would be good.

We need a LW to replace Pouliot. Preferably a right-handed shot.

Setoguchi has the upside, Stempniak has the experience and leadership.

Maybe get Lee for between 1.3 and 1.5.

go get me Booth & Ribeiro. 2 very buy low guys that have a ton of upside and, worst case scenario, we'd be right back where we are now..with kids playign instead of these vets.

need to have fallback options, both of these guys could be boom type reclamation projects.

Really didn't realize how solid (point production wise) Ribiero has been throughout his career. Without a doubt is the best remaining high upside guy to sign. I would think he would cost under 2 million and the Rangers should be all over it.

I'd like to see how the 5 on 5 goals for / goals against ratio effects winning and losing compared to the PK or the PP.

Just by quickly looking it over the other day it appeared that many of the recent cup winners led in that stat in the playoffs, as well as many of the teams who advanced.

Seems to be the same for the regular season, those teams who finish at the top for that particular stat also are those who have the best record.

I'm guessing that as long as a team is good 5 on 5, they are probably at least competent on the special teams as well, yet they do not need to rely on special teams, so their PP and PK may not have to be outstanding.

Does Ribeiro have a noted history of problems of this sort? Theoren Fleury put up very impressive numbers consistently throughout his career. You wonder if he could've been even better if he wasn't dealing with the demons that he was.

Drug addiction is a very difficult disease for the person suffering from it and for those around them, unfortunately.

Penner is, despite his flaws, a decent option to replace Pouliot if he comes cheapish. Huge body who can hit and get to the net. Doesn't skate or finish as well off the rush as BP, but he certainly has scoring potential if he's riding shotgun to skill players.

Agreed, I think I've kind of lost track of Penner the last couple of years, have missed him or not paid attention to him or whatever. So I am not 100% updated on his physical status.

From my point of view though, Penner is of course a bit flawed but he can be effective if put in a role where he can play to his strength. Playing next to Brass and Zucc is a good fit for him for sure.

He always has been a bit smarter player than he gets credit for. He sees the ice real well and knows what to do with the puck. He might not always crash the net as hard as you want to, but he still has a lot of precense down low for sure. A real big body.
