Ryan is a natural right winger i think. I think he was forced to play on the left wing and it did not really work out for him.

This having 80% of people list Ryan as playing on the left is kind of weird. Iffirst line is Michalek, Spezza and Ryan. I dont see Ryan playing on the left wing.

I think we may be done, as far as free agents go. The Corvo signing gives us 7 roster defencemen. Up front, we had too many 1-way deals as it stood, and we haven't really gotten rid of any bodies (Regin is the only departure we didn't replace).
Did we replace Gonchar?

I think we're done for free agents too.

Coincidentally, if the RFAs that everyone has on their lineups are included at reasonable cap hits, the payroll is pretty close to $50m plus Michalak's salary.

I also think we're done. A quantity for quality trade is the only move that makes any real sense right now but those trades aren't easy to make. I could see Jim O'Brien being put on waivers since it's pretty clear he's been blacklisted. Not sure who's daughter or wife he messed with but something smells funny here.

Yep, we are done with free agency. The only moves that are most likely to happen now are trades.

Get DP on the second line with Turret and MacArthur...

JOB and Smith for anyone.

Ideally we put Zibanejad on the top line with Spezza and Ryan

That way Michalek can slot in with Turris and MacArthur

It's a long shot but I think it has potential

This comment made by you almost made me spit out my drink of laughter.

ditto

Jagr, Brunner, Roy, etc could be had/could have been had for less than $5M (Hemsky's salary. I feel I need to mention it because you probably don't know). So, you are wrong

Not only do you want to pay Hemsky more than them (please consider the injury risk as well), you want to give up Smith for the right to do so.

I mean it's nonsensical, to put it kindly

It would of been an ok idea if we had not gotten ryan , a solid plan well D probably. Smith is good but if melynk is as broke as everyone says we probably would of had to ship out an nhl contract to add someone. Thankfully the ryan trade came along so we do not have to hope michalek spezza and hemsky aka our whole first line could stay healthy.

clears out Smiths horrible oversized contract for years of good hemsky.

''years of good hemsky'' lol wut

Smith's contract is fine, many teams would take it. And likely pay a good amount too

If a contract needs to be shipped out to add someone (like Brunner, or Jagr, ...) just ship it to a team for prospects/picks.

Trading Smith for Hemsky leaves you with just Hemksy.

Trading Smith after signing Jagr/Brunner leaves you with Jagr/Brunner + picks.

Easy choice

Is anyone nervous about corvo? All i have been hearing is that he sucks. He is getting so much hate on the thread that was posted in the free agency frenzy forum.

Great offensively poor decisions defenselessly and turn over prone . Has an incredibly good shot . He puts a good numbers but it seems like no one wants him cause hes a bit of a gong show defensively sometimes and carries some off ice baggage .

You must be a recent fan then

He's a turn over machine but he's also very good offensively and him being right handed is a big deal for our team

As long as he paired with a good and quick defensive minded partner it will be fine

He's the author of the only goal to ever get us a 2-0 lead in a series against the Sabres in 2007

It was a GLORIOUS day and while Corvo will give us fits and will undoubtedly lead to some epic goals against he remains a hero of mine

It's also a one year deal for a player who will likely be the 7th dman and a PP specialist

I'm very happy with the signing
