2013 Islanders Prospect Poll #25 *FINAL POLL*

Prospect Criteria for the purposes of this poll mimics the ‘Hockey’s Future’ Prospect Criteria: If a prospect is a skater (forward, defenseman) and has played in 65 NHL games or more before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday; or, if a goaltender has played in 45 NHL games before the completion of the season of his 24th birthday, that player will be considered graduated to the NHL. Conversely, if a player completes the season of his 24th birthday without passing those milestones, then that player will no longer be considered a prospect by Hockey’s Future, regardless of the player’s status with his NHL club.

My goal is to have these polls run for 48 hours each and to extend through the top 25 prospects as per hfboards.

I really liked what I saw from Kyle Burroughs. The highlites on YouTube were very impressive, and then when I saw him play in the rookie scrimmage, he was definately noticeable. Good skater, jumps up into the play, and despite being only 5'11" 182, he plays tough. Reminds me of a poor man's Nik Kronwall or even a Kris Letang, because he loves the big hit, and loves to jump into the play and score.

i agree. i think he was a late riser. he got forced into a larger role than he was supposed to be in, and he thrived? gotta like that. good under pressure....

While Ness will probably have a better pro career then most the guys on this list, it's hard voting for him because I just don't think he's proven he could be a regular NHL player. With some of the other guys sure it might be a longshot but that small possibility makes them a better prospect in my eyes

I agree. Ness has shown very little to make me think that he can become even an AVERAGE AHL defenceman, never mind the NHL.

The late round picks-VCR, Quine and Burroughs are very interesting. Too early to predict anything of course but definitely worth us keeping a close watch.

I know I would get it wrong too, just considering that the this season was 2012-2013 and the NHL never played in 2012 this season. (it would have thrown me off)

Just don't really think either Ness or Katic can really be considered much of prospects moving forward.

Even if Ness had done some sort of indicating that he could be an NHLer, you'd have to think the team is no-way, no-how gonna have both him and Hickey on the roster.

I think we'll be thinking more highly of Bischoff and Somerby next year at this time. I am not however assuming that either is going to be an NCAA stud right off the bat.

As for Burroughs, I just think few of us really know anything about him. My opinion: I just don't know how we got him where we got him. There's so much to like about this kid. I suggest we will by this time next summer.

But other than maybe Burroughs, I don't think we left anyone off the list who truly deserves to be in the top 25 more than some of the guys who we've chosen. Of those remaining unchosen and unmentioned in this particular post, I am most curious about the kind of seasons particularly Diamond and Graham are going to have.

As just about always, gonna be an interesting winter. I'm psyched!
