I want to try something. Let's make this a perpetual thread where we post the Blue Jacket's best goals of the season and debate which ones were the best.

Two candidates immediately come to mind as of the date of this posting. I hope they'll be plenty others.

Nick Foligno December 3 vs Tampa Bay

Corey Tropp December 29 vs Pittsburgh

For starters, which of these two is better and why?

I knew this thread was coming for some reason

I'll take Tropp ... as someone who's played hundreds of games of hockey, I can honestly say that having the vision to make both of those dekes in succession is incredibly difficult.

I liked them both but I gotta go with Tropp's. As someone who never played hockey (hell, I can't even ice skate ) I think his was a pure skillful goal; Foligno's was entertaining and took skill but it had more to do with luck than skill imo. Kind of like a hole in one- Skill to get it close, luck to have it go in.

Let's hope that there are more than 2 candidates by season end.

Both were jaw-dropping. I guess I'd pick Tropp's, only because we could see it develop and react as it happened. Nick's really only became clear on replay. Also, Tropp's was vs. the Pens, so he had that going for him!

I'd just like to say those are a pair of incredible 1st assists. Joey and Boone, well done.

Im gonna vote for Foligno's only because I was there and the atmosphere after that was great! They are both highlight reel top 10's.

We would have had a whole bunch to choose from last season. Heck, we had two or three during the last WEEK of the season.

BTW, I'm going with Tropp because I in no way expected that from him. I kinda expect that from Foligno.

What I learned from Tropp's goal is that even fourth line players that can't make Buffalo's roster have a sick amount of skill.

THN has Foligno's goal at # 4 on its annual list of top NHL goals and Giroux's blind backhand beauty at # 10. Tropp wasn't on the list but it might be that it is too recent to make the article.

I can't choose between the two. Both of them were unbelievable jaw dropping beauties. I don't think I believed Foligno did what he did until the second or third replay.

Great thread. I'm going with Tropp because he had to beat two guys, the d-man and the goalie. But that's the only reason. I don't see Foligno's goal having to rely on "hole in one" luck very much at all.

Exactly. That move takes skill. Not luck. In that scenario it was perfect because the goalie didn't have time to react because of everything going on. Now in a shootout where it's just you and the shooter, it definitely takes a little more luck.

I'd go with Foligno's 10 out of 10.

Tropp's was awesome, but that "in between the legs" deke only works on inexperienced or unsuspecting dmen. Most are going to stop that with their feet. I can make this deke occasionally, on lesser dmen, and usually relies on luck.

The Foligno goal takes more skill than I have for sure. Especially that quick and fast, takes amazing awareness.

Bumping this thread because we've seen a few more beauties this season and with one game left I thought it'd be nice to remember them. Hopefully these will pale in comparison to our playoff goals.

I looked for awhile to try to find what I remember as a Joey goal when he received a pass just outside the o-zone that Murray made to him from behind Bob. Maybe I'm not remembering it right and this really is the goal I'm thinking about. Either way, this was a nice one

and of course

I'd also include Jenner and Letestu's tic tac play leading to Letestu's goal from a week or so ago but only dug around for a while before giving up

For my money, it has to be Tropp's goal, followed closely by Foligno.

As an honorable mention, I loved Horton's goal against Philadelphia at home this year. Took it through the legs of defender at half wall, walked in on Emery and buried it far post.

While both the Foligno and Tropp goals have the WoW factor, spelled forwards or backwards. I'm going with the Foligno goal due to the sheer entertainment value.
