OT: 2013-14 avatars?

I thought it might be a cool idea for us to open with some themed avatars. It's always fun to break out matching avy's. It adds to board unity and opening up a new one is like Christmas in September. Plus, it gives us some entertainment to help us endure the nightmare that is the Rangers.

So I thought we might get together in this thread and hammer out some preliminary ideas. I was wondering if we might do something with AV's "clean slate".

It usually doesn't take very long.

I've thought about the exact same theme, but haven't had a solid idea for execution.

The funniest thing I have so far IMO would be to bring up an old embarrassing HF quote of oneself with a date stamp, as in giving the posters clean slates as well.

But it could be player specific as well, bringing up old failures of our players.

Anywho, I've been working on this. A very, very, very rough concept of what this might look like. I'm finding that the tricky part is going to be having legible quotes within a legal size for an HF avatar.

Yeah, I thought that may be a problem. One would have to shorten the quote as much as possible to make it legible.

I have an idea working off the clean slate-theme. Will try working on a mock up when lm back from hockey in a few hrs

I think clean slate quotes can work if you paraphrase them.

So Machinehead's quote would become something like: "Nash = Callahan at twice the hit". That should be possible to make legible in an avatar.

This would probably make the quotes even more hyperbole, which is all the more fun.

So these are pretty crude mockups but I think you get the general idea. If we decide to go with these I'm sure someone more photoshop savvy than me can improve them.
