Very impressive. I'm not saying we got a bunch of superstars in either draft... But, I'm very impressed that we are getting so many "real" prospects especially in the lower rounds. The only definite bust at this point is Hyka and possibly Kubalik. Everybody else seems like a legit prospect in one way or another... :yo:

2013 Entry 37 2 Valentin Zykov L Baie-Comeau Drakkar [QMJHL]
2013 Entry 103 4 Justin Auger R Guelph Storm [OHL]
2013 Entry 118 4 Hudson Fasching R U.S. National Development Team [USHL]
2013 Entry 146 5 Patrik Bartosak G Red Deer Rebels [WHL]
2013 Entry 148 5 Jonny Brodzinski C St. Cloud State [WCHA]
2013 Entry 178 6 Zac Leslie D Guelph Storm [OHL]
2013 Entry 191 7 Dominik Kubalik L Sudbury Wolves [OHL]

2012 Entry
Draft Num. Round Player Pos Drafted From
2012 Entry 30 1 Tanner Pearson L Barrie Colts [OHL]
2012 Entry 121 4 Nikolay Prokhorkin L CSKA Moscow [KHL]
2012 Entry 151 5 Colin Miller D Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds [OHL]
2012 Entry 171 6 Tomas Hyka R Gatineau Olympiques [QMJHL]
2012 Entry 181 6 Paul Ladue D Lincoln Stars [USHL]
2012 Entry 211 7 Nick Ebert

Feel kinda bad for Hyka, the Flyers tried to sign him to a contract before the 2011-12 season (same 'loophole' as the Kings did with Martin Jones). But the CBA has a different rule for North American players versus European ones. And apparently the Flyers intended to draft Hyka with a late pick in 2011, but their entire table managed to forget about him and took somebody they had ranked lower.

The trade up for Zykov was a savvy move. I was surprised when I saw so many people who liked it from Edmonton's perspective. In the last ~25 years, the team trading up almost always gets better value than the team moving down for multiple picks.

really wish we could've found a way to keep Fasching, but I Think McNabb will be a good player for us.

No offense, but I think we were collectively saying the same thing about our 2001 and 2002 drafts in 2003, and our 2002 and 2003 drafts in 2004, and our 2003 and 2004 drafts in 2005, and...

2003 and 2005, yes. In 2004 we were all talking about how we drafted Ellen DeGeneres.

With the exception of the 3 players below (and of course Fasching who was traded for another asset), I believe all of the players drafted in those two years have a chance to play professionally in the Kings organization.

2013 Entry 191 7 Dominik Kubalik L Sudbury Wolves [OHL]

Me too, but it's never good to fall in love with a player..especially if we can improve the team NOW. I think it truly depends on the state of affairs within the organization. It will take years to see if Fasching pans out and DL knew we needed a replacement defenseman in our lineup.

Not to mention that DL may have sold high on Fasching. He went from being a 4th rounder to worth 2 2nds and McNabb (minus whatever value you give Deslauriers) in the span of nine months.
