2010 Draft - Who has Elite Potential?

I'm sure this question has been asked numerous time already, but since the hockey season is winding down and players have been re-ranked, I figured I'd ask once more.

Disregarding the likes of Hall and Seguin, which players from the 2010 draft have all-star like potential (not necessarily perennial superstar)?
 
Connolly, Skinner, Hishon (skillset is through the roof), Jordan Weal (size seems to be the only thing holding him back, but it hardly effects him, star in the making)
 
Everyone skipped over this kid except Dave. Vladimir Tarasenko.

I think Austin Watson can be a great player in his own right if all goes as planned.

he has elite potential. doesnt get enough respect. anyways hall seguin obviously, gudbrandson, fowler, gormley, tarasenko, kabanov, nino will be good not elite, granlund, kuznetsov. DMEN look insane this year.

He definitely seems like the consensus guy thus far. It'll be interesting to see how he fairs at the U18.

Is that highest upside for D, or all players -- Hall and Seguin included? Does he perhaps resemble a Erik Johnson type potential?

It seems to be a pretty common belief, although not consensus, that he could potentially be the best player from this draft in a couple years. Honestly, just look at him, their not kidding when he says he's THE prototype NHL defencemen.

That link will probably send you right to Pysyk's profile just scroll down and see Gudbranson. Real nice skater, mean streak, big body at 6'3.5 and he'll fight you.

I think he's got Erik Johnson potential, the reason hes not going 1 or 2 is because their not as sure about him. Ive seen Brent Burns, Weber, Pronger, and Bouwmeester comparisons. I think the Bouwmeester comparison has more to do with his skating ability at 6'4. He's got maturity well beyond his years I think he's got stud written all over him.

I'll add, if the Islanders get their hands on him I think there gonna be dangerous for many many years.
 
1)Tarasenko
2)Granlund
3)Kabanov

These are my three out of the draft that have potential to be elite players other than the top two dynamo.

Tarasenko is a scoring machine, Granlund is the best playmaker in the draft, and kabanov's hands are like datsyuk's...but it is impossible to predict how each player will perform at the highest stage in the world.
 
I personally think Kuznetsov's top-end potential is higher than Tarasnko's, but believe both have elite potential, moreso than players like kabanov, nino, granlund, etc.

Hall, Seguin, Fowler, and Gudbranson are other obvious picks.
 
There's so many players with elite potential. Even some in the later rounds.. Because you simply never know. But this mentality is no fun so I'll play along.

Connoly, Kabanov, Tarasenko and Mcfarland stick out for me as all high risk high reward types with the possibility of elite potential. Fowler and Gundbranson and Gormley have elite potential but are safer, that's why they'll likely get drafted ahead of the former group. I also don't really know what to think about Granlund, I'm just confused by him for some reason.
 
I'm surprised there isn't more mention of Gudbranson (only two posters, I believe). With the thread title's question of who has elite *potential*, Gudbranson's a no-brainer.

When you go down the checklist of what teams look for in a defenseman, he passes with flying colors in all categories. Size? Check. Mobility? Check. Toughness? Check. Leadership/character? Check. Gap control? Check. Lateral movement? Check. Physical play? Check. Good positioning? Check. Puck carrying? Check.

Add the fact that what you're seeing is just a raw, unfinished product (more so than arguably anyone else rated in the first round) and it's scary to think what he could potentially turn out to be.

I agree, and I have a feeling he will go higher than Fowler.
