What did Pieterangelo win?
Stamkos has won two Rocket Richards titles and would have grabbed a third if not for Ovechkin suddenly thinking it's 2008 again this year. He was the 4th youngest to score 200 career goals, only Gretzky, Lemiuex and Hawerchuk did it quicker.
As much as I love Doughty, I'd take Stamkos 1st overall again if that draft was held again now. That kid, if he stays healthy, could become the best goalscorer in NHL history. He very likely won't, but the fact it can even be debated shows how great he is.

Not sure. But Pietrangelo has led his team to around a dozen playoff game wins and many regular season game wins. Tampa can't even make the playoffs with guys like St. Louis and formerly Lecavalier to help.

While Stamkos had some big goal numbers, he has led the team to 0 playoff wins as the team leader. All of the Pietrangelo wins are with him as the team leader.
That's what I'm getting at. Kinda like how Getzlaf, Perry and Penner played well for a 3rd/4th line but they weren't the leaders of the Ducks when they won the Cup. Guys like Pronger and Niedermayer were along with Giggy.

Well, while most people would pick Stamkos #1. I would pick Doughty.
There isn't another defender in the game as it is today that I would trade him for. He played amazing during our cup year, and alot of experts pegged him as our best player during the Cup run. In the last Olympics he started on the last line and ended up on the first line with Duncan Keith. He plays some of the highest minuets in the league and plays all situations against the leagues top players.
I understand the reasoning of picking Stamkos. Him being one of the best goal scorers of the NHL. But would you take him over some of the other centers in the league? Like Crosby, Toews. I would even rather have Kopi. With his size and improving two way game. Stamkos is one hell of a player. It's just me personally I'd rather have arguably one of the top defense men in the game then Stamkos.

And if we are only counting playoffs wins for 'leaders' then I guess Doughty doesn't count for LA since Quick was the clear leader in the playoffs in terms of being the best player.

It's not Stamkos fault Tampa can't defend or have above average Goaltending.
That would be the Coach/GM's fault.

What are you talking about? Without getzlaf and fairy they don't win the cup. Penner was a complementary player.

It's funny to look at the surrounding drafts ('06, '07 and '09) and see that the only 1st or 2nd round picks on the roster are Lewis and Clifford. While they got 2 All-star Defenseman out of this draft alone.

LOL.
He scored 60 goals a year and you criticize him because he doesn't win 50% of his faceoffs, my god faceoffs are like the Rod Brind'Amour of stats. Was called underrated for so long, has become overrated.
