I'm very tired of the NHL incessantly keeping penalty calls relatively even every game on purpose. That isn't how it is really being played. The clutch and grab Islanders system commits infinitely more penalties than the Rangers system every did. Tonight is the same crap. Refs ate the whistle after a couple early offsetting calls.

They don't wanna get carried away making calls early. But when they call one for one team they will call one for another unless something egregious happens to make it uneven.

Radulov fell down on a Trouba stand up at the line, hooked him 5 times around the thigh yanking at him, no call.

And this is why you don't sign stars to giant deals in the beginning of a rebuild.

This should've been a full blown rebuild, and let the kids play instead of trying to rebuild and reload at the same time.

A common theme from preseason to these games has been trouble in the neutral zone.

The problem hasn't been with breakouts so much as it has been finding a way to maintain possession smoothly across center ice and penetrating into the offensive zone.
